Hello list, I have a marriage record here that turned out not to be my family. Groom is John T. Williams, age 23, and the bride is Maggie Black, age 21. They were married in Greenup Co., Ky. on 23 Aug. 1866. The groom is from there, but the bride is from Vennando? Vernando? Pennsylvania. They married at the house of Mrs. Black. Included in here is both the marriage bond as well as the marriage certificate. Also nice is the handwritten permission by Maggie Black's mother, Jane Black, for John to marry her daughter. The bondsmen are John T. Williams and John B. Patterson. I have also posted this to the Ky. lists. If anyone would like this record, I will send it to you. It has the official, raised seal showing it is a true copy from the courthouse. Martha _________________________________________________________________
I am looking for any Walkers or Roberts that may have been from Washington or Greene Counties, Pa. or that may have had relatives from there especially around Washington or Waynesburg, Ruff Creek and Amwell Twp. You can email me at ladybowhunterwt@msn.com and will help in return if I can. I am a direct line of both so have a lot of names and not sure which name to put in. Thanks
The bride is possibly from Venango County, PA. --- On Mon, 10/27/08, martha brunson <marthabrunson@hotmail.com> wrote: From: martha brunson <marthabrunson@hotmail.com> Subject: [PA] Marriage-John Williams, Maggie Black 1866 To: pennsylvania-l@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, October 27, 2008, 2:50 AM Hello list, I have a marriage record here that turned out not to be my family. Ron- Why don't you do a Google search to see if there is a Richardson DNA study going on? If so, join it-that would give you a bigger chance of having others who match. My brother did the swab for our Welty branch, and we joined the Welty research group, using their DNA research company. We were able to identify our 2nd gr-grandfather, who was suspected, but not proved. Hi, Ron- While this is a matter of interest to many genealogists, this list isn't the proper (nor the best) forum for your query. I'd suggest you subscribe and post your query on the DNA-NEWBIE list. You can learn about this list and subscribe to it here: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/DNA/DNA-NEWBIE.html Best of luck! Joan In a message dated 10/19/2008 6:41:39 A.M. Richard - My family used FamilyTree, and we're quite happy with it. But, that's because there was an Administrator to take care of the results and post them. Since we had a proven ancestry, other people with our surname wanted to compare their results with ours to see if they were related. The Administrator took care of posting the results so they could see who were direct descendants of our ancestor and who were not. It was especially helpful to those who were not related because they now know they were barking up the wrong tree (pun intended).
