Hi, Diana: The pages are on their way. Do you need copies of the 1920 pages for James, Bessie & family? Had his parents and sister passed before the 1920 census? You're quite welcome. Hi Peggy As for Barnes surname...only have this one family...can't go very far with them. Wish I could help...sorry. Marie Hi My mother-in-law was a BARNES. Do you know if any of your relatives ever married a STOCKER? Peggy
Hi List, Im looking for anyone who may have family connections to my third G-GM Susannah (Susan) HENRY FLOTT. She is my brick wall. We know that Susannah was born August 17, 1812 and died September 24, 1899 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Per her obituary (below), she was a native of Franklin County. After she married in about 1833 (Franklin County), the FLOTT family lived in Green Village, Franklin County, Pennsylvania where her husband Daniel was a tailor. In 1860, the family is living in Lurgan Township, Franklin County. By 1870, the family had moved to Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. I have tracked the family from 1840 in all census records and on several tax lists, but have nothing on Susannah before her marriage to Daniel. Her obituary: (Note the surname is spelled FLOT): Morning Times, Altoona, Pennsylvania., Monday, September 25, 1899 Mrs. Susannah Flot. At 4.30 0'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Susannah Flot died at the home of her son-in-law, John McKnight, 227 Seventh Avenue. Death was caused by ailments incident to old age. The deceased was aged 87 years, 1 month and 7 days, and was a native of Franklin County. She was the widow of Daniel Flot. These children survive: David, Henry and Emanuel, of Shade Gap, Huntingdon County; C.M.(Charles), and Mrs. David (Sarah) Snyder, of Kansas, and Mrs. John (Mary) McKnight, of this city. Funeral services will be held in the home tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Trying to track down information on Andrew J. Kerr (b. 1843), wife Julie (or Julia) Ferguson and their kids: Robert, Annie M., James Franklin, and Ida S. Andrew was a farm laborer and moved frequently. I believe Robert was born in or near Peters Twp, as he his 5 months old in the 1870 census. In 1880, I found them in Upper St. Clair: Robert was 10, Annie 8, J. Frank 6 and Ida S 1 yr. Does anyone know what churches might have existed that this info could have been recorded in? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Diana New Jersey

Hi Jane, thanks for your answer. In my town and also surrounding towns there are many Buchers. Some of them also emigrated to America. There is a fellow researcher in my town for Bucher families. I thought there might have been a connection. This guy supposes also that his Bucher family might have come from Switzerland, amybe in the 30 years war, but we have no documents to proof it. Church documents of those times were burnt and are beginning only in 1696 in our town. Also I did not see in your posting that you have found your ancestral line. Regards Rose
Hello, Looking for passenger lists for the following ships from Cork, Ireland, to Philadelphia in 1772 (advertisements from the 'Cork Hibernian Chronicle,' newspaper, 1772):- "For the flourishing and plentiful city of PHILADELPHIA, the metropolis of Pennsylvania, and of the British Empire in America, - THE good brig PATTY, Robert Hardie, Master, a stout new vessel, well accommodated for passengers and servants, will sail in three weeks. All young men and women, who are willing to better their fortunes, will meet with good encouragement by applying to Mrs. Mc.Donough in Bruce's-lane, or said Captain at his lodgings at the widow Bass's in George's-street, or on board said vessel at Blackrock. For freight or passage, apply to William Willcocks and Co. For the flourishing and plentiful city of PHILADELPHIA, the metropolis of Pennsylvania, and of the British Empire in America, - THE good Brig BETSEY, David M'Cutchon, Master, [lying?] at Passage, a stout new vessel, well accommodated for passengers and servants, will sail in three weeks. All young men and women who are willing to better their fortunes, will meet with good encouragement, by applying to Mrs. M'Donough in Bruce's Lane, or said Captain at his Lodgings at Mr. Walker's in Halfmoon Street, or on board said vessel. For freight or passage, apply to William Willocks and Co. July 20. See also, For the flourishing city of PHILADELPHIA in Pennsylvania, the most healthy, cheapest, and best province in North America, THE JENNY of Londonderry, burthen 200 tons, a stout new ship, and a prime sailor, Archibald Mc. Ilwain, Commander, is now fitting out for the reception of passengers, redemptioners and servants, and will be ready to sail in 14 days. About 20 or 30 likely young men and women, (particularly tradesmen and husbandmen) who are well recommended, and willing to better themselves abroad, will meet with good encouragement, and the best usage from Captain Mc. Ilwain, at the Liverpool Arms in Half-Moon-street, or on board the ship at Cove. For freight or passage apply to Thomas Browne near the Old Drawbridge. August 10" These ships would also seem to have carried prisoners from Cork who had been sentenced 'to be transported to the plantations.' Would also love to receive any information re books, cds or articles. Regards, Jean Prendergast, Cork http://homepage.eircom.net/~ridgway/
I have Buchers from Langnau, Switzerland east of Berne. Friedrich Bucher was born to Bernard and Anna Muller Bucher in 1738. They had Christian Bucher born July 3, 1778 who married Christina Brechbuhl June 19 1807. Their children were Elizabeth 1808, Christian 1813, Peter 1816, Johannes 1818, and Friedrich 1821. They arrived in America around 1824 and settled near Allen county, Ohio. Other Buchers came to Lancaster County, PA as early as 1756. They emigrated from Neukirch, canton Schaffhausen, Switzwerland. These Buchers were belived to have settled in Wayne County, Ohio. Friedrich Bucher married Anna Geiger in 1846. They had 9 children, one of which (Christian ) is my great great grandfather. Christian spent his later years with my great grandmother Mary Bucher Lauber in Fulton County, Ohio. If anything sounds like it might be something you are looking for let me know. Like my sister's husband was born on Dobbs Hill. It might a small hamlet that is gone now, but with a Beech tree that was known as a landmark to the local area, and so the place was named. For example, I live in a defunct town called Flagg Spring. It's only on the map now as the road we live on, but once the spring, which is on the top of my property on the ridge, had a post office and about 40 people! I might really far off on this since I'm only guessing, but if the name has been lost through the generations you might be able to locate the area in and around Scranton where Drunkers lived and find her birthplace through the "back door" as it were. Just a thought, Constance in Flagg Spring, KY

could it also be "Dunkards' Beech" ? don't know my Pennsylvania geography very well, but seems to me this was discussed on another list within the past two weeks Candy
I was hoping that someone could help me with a question on a place name. In the Family Bible one of the daughters was listed as born in 1842 in a place called Drunkers Beech. In the cemetery records her birthplace was listed as near Scranton. Can anyone tell me if this place? I would appreciate any help. Heather Francis --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!?
