Hi All. I'm new to this list and I am searching for possible descendants of two of my father's uncles. Leonard TURLEY born about 1876 in Sedgley, Staffordshire, England emigrated to Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1906 age 20. He married and American lady (possibly Maggie) who was a school teacher, and I don't think they had any children. I am also led to believe that they ran a lodging house, and that the lady had several sisters. (I have a photograph of her with sisters and her father). --------------------- Joseph TURLEY born about 1864, also in Sedgley, Staffordshire, England, together with his wife Alice emigrated in 1907, (Joseph's age about 32). I found Alice later on in about 1912/13 on a ships manifest together with two children - Albert age 5 and May (no age given). The father of Leonard and Joseph was Thomas Turley, who was an iron moulder. I understand that they both worked in the steel industry in Pittsburgh, although I have found an address for Leonard Turley in New Brighton. (Is this a district of Pittsburgh?) Could anyone suggest how I could find out if either Albert or May had any children, as they still have a cousin alive in England. I think they would be 2nd cousins once removed to me. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Best wishes Pat in England.
Thank you so much Debra! I'm making a trip over to the library and I'll see what I can find there. Also, if I remember correctly, there is a RITTER file at the Historical Society of Philadelphia. I think I should get over there and see what I can find now that I have more information to look into. I'll be sure to post to the list any findings. Thanks again! Ella

The court house has no record of marriage license, they start in 1895.is it possible that none was needed or they might be somewhere else. Any information greatly appreciated. Peggy Bush Jones
Yes, and country singer Tex Ritter is deceased actor John Ritter's father. > Hello, > I think there is a country singer by the name of Tex Ritter? > > Maggie May > legalintel (Liz) > >
Would anyone have any pictures they'd like to share of Guardsmen from the outfit in Brookville, Jefferson County? It would be nice to see some photos with names attached.

According to what I've read, the Molly McGuires were active from the 1860's until 1877. May I come in here? I saw mentioned the RUTTER line. I am looking for the parents or anything connected to Patronella Rutter born c. 1813 p. Germany d. c. 1816. Believe in or near Pittsburg, PA. Married Joseph Habermacher and had two sons at least = John Charles and Thomas Habermacher. Sometimes spelled Habbermacher. Do any of you find a connection? Appreciate any help. Dorothy
Hi Ellen, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, that would be the Andrew and Ellen I am searching. so far I have only done my Father's paternal side of the family[TOBIAS]. Ella's maiden name was Lotz and she was married to George Fisher Tobias and they lived in Redding and were buried there in Charles Evans Cemetery. I have pictures of her and Andrew and Ella's sister Ellen. That's about all I have. I don't know anything about the family since I never met any of them. Anything you can add would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks!! Bev
