This is part of a book about people in Tennessee. It is about my great-grandmothers first cousin. It gives some family history in which it mentions some of my Price relatives from Pennsylvania. There is one mistake that I am aware of and that refers to Elizabeth (Reese) Price. Reese was actually not her surname from all the information I have found. Her surname is Jones. If anyone could help me with any information on this Price or Richards family I would appreciate it- Heather Francis J. Harry Price is a native of Knoxville, his birth having occurred in 1884, his parents being A. J. and Annie (Richards) Price. He comes of Welsh ancestry, his grandparents being Jonathan and Elizabeth (Reese) Price, both of Welsh descent. One of their sons was David Price, who was an officer of the Seventh Pennsylvania Cavalry during the Civil war and was wounded in Shiloh. Another representative of the family is Dr. Henry R. Price, who is chairman of the board of trustees of the Lehigh University of Pennsylvania. The grandfather, Jonathan Price, was a coal operator of the Keystone state and passed away there, after which his widow came to Tennessee with a number of Welsh settlers, who took up their abode at Knoxville. Here with her children she founded a good home and continued to reside in Tennessee until called to her final rest. Her son, A. J. Price, was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and after arriving at years of maturity he wedded Annie Richards, a native of Dan! ville, Pennsylvania, and a daughter of William and Catherine (Rogers) Richards. Her parents were both natives of the little rock-ribbed country of Wales and on coming to the new world settled in Danville, Pennsylvania, where they remained until they sought the opportunities offered in Tennessee. Establishing their home in Knoxville, Mr. Richards here joined with Captain W. P. Chamberlain of Knoxville and Captain H. S. Chamberlain of Chattanooga in establishing the iron works and thus became a prominent factor in the industrial development of this section of the state. Not only was the family well known in connection with the productive industries of Tennessee, but likewise was well represented in art circles. One of the family, William Richards, was a noted musician, who studied in London and became a distinguished teacher. Another, Dr. Joseph Perry, was a musician and song writer of London, England. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! Mail - 100MB free storage!

Hi, My stepfather - Merrill Eugene Confer (born 08.02.1938/39) is dying from a male hereditary disease and my half brothers are concerned and interested in knowing more about their family history. They are also interested in finding fact with stories of possible Indian bloodline presumed to be from Worden side of the family. My Stepfather is Merrill Eugene Confer (born 08.02.1938/39) is the son of Merril Wilson Confer and Marguerite Jeanette Worden. Merril Wilson Confer - 01/05/1913-04/1972 : * I found in the 1930 Howard Township, Centre Co. census that Merril W Confer lived with relatives Harry E & Bertha G Schenck Confer. * Harry Edward Confer was the son of Robert Philip Confer & Alice Cynthia Deter. I am looking to see how Merril Wilson Confer was related Marguerite Jeanette Worden - 03/06/1919-07/15/1995: * Last know residence was North Bend, Clinton Co. * Marguerite may have had other siblings, but the only one I am aware of was "Uncle Kenny" who was born in PA. Uncle Kenny was married to Aunt Sara & lived in Southwood NY for a time. It is believed they moved to Florida later. * Merril & Marguerite had several children who I believe all grew up in foster families. The names I am aware of are Barbara, Richard, Denny, Danny (Denny & Danny were twins, Danny died young of suffocation due to plastic left on crib mattress), James, Sherman . Below is a bit about me/my family in case it will help. Merrill Eugene Confer (my stepfather) B: 08.02.1938/1939 Piney Creek ? Thanks for the information. I had spoken with the church secretary months ago...if I remember correctly, their archive materials were given to the Cumberland County Historical Society. From the info I've found on the internet, I suspect that Ancestry has some of their information also. I'm hoping there's someone on the List who can access this material. Thanks, again. Hi, List: Is there anyone on the List who has access to Trindle Springs Lutheran Church (Cumberland County) church records? I am hoping to find a baptism record for Vivian Loudon born about 1902 to learn the names of her parents. She is shown in the 1910, 1920 & 1930 census material as a granddaughter of John & Eliza/Lyde Loudon. According to the 1930 census, she married a George Landis about 1922. Thank you. Debra
This could be a definite possibility! Thank you so much! I will send you a mailing address offlist. Take care, Ella
Hi and thank you again Beverly! If you could look for a John, Henry or Mathias RUTTER or RITTER that was in the Southwark section of Philadelphia I would greatly appreciate it! If it's too much then I think John might be who I am looking for. Thank you again! Ella

Hello everyone, I think I'm finally pulling my early South Philadelphia RUTTER/RITTERs together and going back another generation!!!! Maybe this will connect me with one of the RUTTER or RITTER trees that are so well put together so far such as Thomas RUTTER and POTTS families of Colebrookdale or the 4 RITTER brothers from Oley, PA who eventually also lived in Colebrookdale if I remember correctly. I have a feeling that the RITTER brothers' families and Thomas RUTTER's families connect along the way somewhere in these lines anyway. Here are the Southwark RUTTERs that I put together. Can you all follow me for a few minutes here please? I'm starting with census info from 1830 and working my way back to 1790. East Southwark 1830 all on same page... Mary RUTTER - one female age 60-70 one male in home age 30-40 Henry RUTTER - one male age 40-50 one male under 5, one male 5-10, one male 10-15, one female age 40-50, one female age 20-30, two females ages 15-20, one female age 10-15, one femmale age 5-10 and one female under 5. also a Mary STILLWAGON - one female age 30-40 and one female age 10-15 also on this page. On another page... John RUTTER- three males under age 5, two males age 5-10, one male age 10-15, one male age 30-40, one female age 10-15, one female age 30-40. This must be my ggg grandparents, parents of George born about 1830 and married to Emma. The ages match and so do the neighbors and relatives to the family. Other names on this page are... Jacob and Bishop STINSMAN Might this be where the name Bishop comes from in the John RUTTER and Margaret GOUGH family? John and Margaret had a son Callender who married Prudence NAPIER so I'm sending this to the NAPIER list also. Conrad and George MARKER Adam ALBURGER ----------- ----------------------------------------------------- 1820 All in Southwark on the same page... John RUTTER - one male age 16-26, one male age 45 and up, one female age 16-26, one female age 45 and up. Henry RUTTER - two males under age 10, two males age 26-45, three females under the age of 10, two females age 10-16, two females age 26-45. At the very bottom of another page is... Mathias RUTTER - one male age 10-16, three males age 16-26, one male age 26-45, one female age 10-16, one female age 16-26, one female age 45 and up. On the same page is Charles STOLL. On the very next page is... John RUTTER- two males under age 10, one male age 26-45, two female under age 10, one female age 26-45. (ggg grandparents) Peter and Jacob STINCHMAN, another spelling for STINSMAN are listed on either side of John RUTTER. Peter RIBEL, another spelling for RIVEL/RIVAL, and Mary and George MARKER are all on this same page as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- So far I'm thinking that John, Henry and Mathias were brothers and their parents were John Rutter and Mary listed as head of household in 1830. 1810 Census All East Southwark Henry RUTTER - four males under age 10, one male age 26-44, two females age 10-15, one female age 45 and over. Also on same page Hannah and George RIVEL/RIVELL On the very next page enumerated one visit after the other... John RUTTER - seven males under the age of 10, two males age 10-15, one male age 26-44, one female under age 10, one female age 10-15, one female age 16-25, and one female age 45 and over. Henry RUTTER - four males under age 10, one male age 26-44, two females age 10-15, one female age 26-44. HMMMM why enumerated twice or could 2 Henry's had the same exact set of children in their homes. Maybe they owned both properties. On the same page are Jacob STENSMAN (STINSMAN), Peter REVEL (RIVEL), Godfrey MARKER. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- 1800 census All Southwark At the very bottom of the page is... John RUTTER - On the top of the very next page is George REBEL (RIVEL???) ----------------------------------------------------------- 1790 census Southwark John RUTTER directly below him Adam RIPPLE (RIVEL???)- --------------------------------------------------------------- So now I will look into possible brothers John, Henry and Mathias RUTTER all born sometime between 1770 and 1795 who's parents' names are possibly John RUTTER and Mary who lived in the Southwark District of Philadelphia all the way back to the 1790 census. Does anyone know if I might be on the right track and if so might anyone have any other info to share?? I'd love to hear from anyone with a possible connection or info. Good luck all, Ella
nothing like reading other peoples' queries. I have CD 209 PA Wills and when saw unusual name of Rutter I went to early Wills. It has Berks Co. Would any or more of these be a help to you? Own CD so can lookup any names.
