Hello again all, Before my great grandparents Frederick KIRCHER and Margaret BAIRD married their families lived next door to each other at 411 and 413 Daly Street according to the 1900 census. According to other signed documents that I have...living next door to the BAIRDs at 415 Daly Street was Andrew J. KINGSTON who was married to Catherine West POTTS. Living just up the block at 429 Daly Street was Catherine's brother Charles T. POTTS who was married to an Ella born in NJ and they had 2 daughters Anna and Fannie. According to a KINGSTON researcher Charles (born 1860) and Catherine POTTS (born 1872) were the children of PA Civil War veteran Edward M. POTTS and an Amanda SCHAEFER. Amanda is listed as widow of Edward POTTS living at 415 Daly Street according the 1895 Philadelphia City Directory. Charles and Catherine's other siblings were... Pauline POTTS born 1858 married John SHONE son of James and Mary SHONE. Florence POTTS born 1869 Both Charles POTTS and Andrew KINGSTON signed affidavits stating what they knew about my great great grandfather and how long they knew him for when he applied for a Civil War pension in 1897. Searching the net (providing information is correct) I found a Samuel Douglass BAIRD who was the son of Thomas BAIRD and Mary DOUGLASS. He married Rebecca POTTS who was the daughter of Thomas POTTS and Deborah PYEWELL and the granddaughter of Thomas POTTS and Magdalena ROBESON. I also found a Thomas POTTS who was a tanner and died Spet 1726. Now I'm not sure if this family is connected to Thomas POTTS who was married to Magdalena ROBESON or not. Maybe someone out there does... Thomas POTTS the tanner was an executor to the will of his friend Richard SPARKS of Philadelphia in the early 1700's. My grandmother Margaret Bard's sister Annie married an unknown SPARKS and they had a son Harry born about 1894. Annie was a widow and living with her son and mother at 411 Daly in the 1900 census. Might anyone know if all of these BAIRDs, POTTS and SPARKS connect along the way and across the centuries somewhere? Happy Hunting! Ella PS. If you have old email address as ella12866@aol.com. Please update it to ella12866@msn.com
Thanks for the FamilySearch.org lead to filmed Philadelphia wills. Jeannet

Hi Debra, The only thing that I could find was in the Chestnut Ward page 462b. There is a Thomas ELLIS age 35 and Margaret Ellis age 34 staying in a hotel. If this is them I do not know where their children are because the index is only by head of household or those over a certain age living in a household with a different name than the head of household. Unfortunately I haven't figured out the age yet. If it isn't them and they were in another state I can't help because I failed to mention that the index and census that I have is only for PA. If I can help with anything else in PA just let me know. I hope it's them and good luck! Ella
Hi Karen, Thank you for the directory information. Now to figure out how to use that info. or view that will from 1785. Thanks again, Jeannet
If you can get to a Family History Center (run by the Mormon church) you can order the following microfilm: Philadelphia Wills, v. T-U, 1784-1790 FHL US/CAN Film 21729 If you don't know the exact date of the will, you can look it up in the index to wills, which is a different microfilm: Philadelphia Index to wills, 1682-1900, A-M FHL US/CAN Film 21837 If you can't get to a center, there are folks who will look it up and make copies for a reasonable fee. Good Luck! If you are receiving what appears to be list messages but which are suspicious and contain attachments--they are NOT being sent by RootsWeb. Other than list digest messages (which are treated by some email clients such as Outlook Express on the receiving end as attachments) you should not be receiving ANY attachments from a RootsWeb list. Viruses and worms often FORGE/SPOOF an address they find on an infected computer and send themselves out to all other addresses they find on the infected computer--but they are not coming from or through RootsWeb. Hi, Ella: You're quite welcome. Thanks for the offer of help with the 1850 census. Actually, I do need help in finding: Thomas & Margaret Ellis - Thomas may have been born in England (I don't have a date) and he seems to have disappeared before the 1860 census. Margaret (Jones) seems to have been born & died in PA (1813-1876). By 1850 they had 4 children: Arabella Marian (Belle) - born 1840 in either PA or TN. Robert - born abt 1843 in either PA or TN. Andrew - born abt 1846 in either PA or TN. Eliza J. (Lyde) - born 1848 in either PA or TN. Thank you so much for your time and assistance.
