I think I have found an ancestor in the rooster. Now, how can I prove this? Is there a place where I can see his sign up? Would that have any info that I could use, eg. wife, child, etc? Thanks for any help. Doris
Nothing more than you already know in the Civil War information on Ancestry. Do you have other census information? Or did you just want military service information? If you want other census info tell me where in PA they lived and I can try a search. The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, April 4, 1907 JACOB L. was the second child in a family of twelve children born to HENRY and CATHERINE LOHR MCKLVEEN, both of Scotch-Irish ancestry. The place of his birth was West Moreland County, Pennsylvania, and date May 12, 1837. He died at his home in Chariton, Iowa, at noon on Easter Sunday, March 31st, 1907, aged 69 years, 10 months and 19 days. With his wife he went to California, last year, for his health, and there suffered the most severe illness of his life, up to that time, recovering sufficiently to return home only to be mastered by heart trouble and lung complications, which resulted fatally. His home going was peaceful. JACOB remained on his father's farm in Pennsylvania until his 20th year, when he learned the carpenter's trade, but staying in his home county until 1860, when in the spring of that year he removed to La Porte County, Indiana and worked at his trade until the spring of 1866, from there making his last move to Lucas County, Iowa, locating in Chariton, which has since been his home. He was married to MISS HELEN FREDLER, February 12, 1863, in La Porte County, Indiana. To this union five children were born, HENRY, the first died in infancy; BERTHA MCKLVEEN SCHREIBER, of Chariton; CATHARINE MCKLVEEN SMITH, of Chicago; MARGARET, who died in her 10th year and ROBBIE, who died in his third year. Of his immediate family there remain his brothers -- DR. J.A. and SAMUEL, of Chariton, REV. WM. H., of Greene County, Pa.; CRAMER J., of Greensburg, Pa., and one sister, ISABELLE BITTNER, of West Morland County, Pa. Soon after coming to Chariton, JACOB MCKLVEEN united with the Baptist Church in 1868, and was always a true, faithful and efficient member, and during many of these years was a worthy Deacon, also holding other important church offices. He was a member of the K. of P. and I.O.O.F. Lodges. Up to the year of 1884, he followed carpentering in partnership with his brother SAMUEL, and were engaged in building and contract work. They then formed the MCKLVEEN Lumber Co., he continuing in active business until 1901, when he retired owing to ill health, but still holding his interest in affairs. He had accumulated a considerable holding of residence property in Chariton and was public spirited and full of local pride. He was a good citizen, a true Christian, an obliging neighbor, loyal to his family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church at 2:00 o'clock, Tuesday, conducted by Rev. F.B. Palmer, his pastor. The ceremonies at the cemetery were under the auspices of the order of odd Fellows. Thus a life story ends and after earth's tributes have been paid those who mourn return to their affairs to await the inevitable call which comes to all mankind. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert December 8, 2004 iggy29@rnetinc.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm posted at this site with Nancee's permission

NORTHWESTERN IOWA ITS HISTORY AND TRADITION VOLUME III 1804-1926 T. A. ANDERSON The life history of Thomas A. Anderson was closely identified with the history of Ida county, Iowa, which was long his home. He began his career here in the pioneer epoch and through the years which followed was closely allied with its interests and upbuilding. He was of the finest type of progressive citizen and was held in the highest measure of appreciation by his fellowmen. Mr. Anderson was born in Belfast, Ireland, on the 4th of January, 1873, and was a son of James and Mary (Fair) Anderson, both of whom were natives of the north of Ireland. The family came to the United States in 1873, locating first in Delaware county, Iowa, where they remained about five years, and then came to Ida county, where the father engaged in farming. To him and his wife were born the following children: Margaret Jane, who is the widow of the late Robert Hall, of this county; Mary Eliza, who is the wife of Robert Lipton, of Ida Grove; William J., of Ida Grove, and Thomas A., the immediate subject of this memoir. Thomas A. Anderson was reared to the life of a farmer and secured his education in the public schools of his home neighborhood. He followed farming throughout his active life, being enterprising and progressive in his methods, and achieved notable success, being numbered among the wideawake and up-to-date agriculturists of his locality. He made many good improvements on his farm and developed it into a valuable and productive property. His death occurred May 26, 1911. On March 4, 1896, Mr. Anderson was united in marriage to Miss Gertrude Anspach, daughter of Milton and Ella (Dickson) Anspach, the former of whom was a native of Pennsylvania and the latter of Illinois. They came to Ida county in 1874 and the father here engaged in farming for many years. During the period of his residence in this locality he passed through varied experiences, one of which was the terrible scourge of grasshoppers which in early days completely devastated the crops. Mr. and Mrs. Anspach are now retired and live at Long Beach, California. To them were born seven children, namely: Gertrude, Mrs. Anderson; Royal Glenwood, of Colfax, Iowa; Edith, the wife of Albert Kuhlman, of Lake Benton, Minnesota; William E., of Colfax, Iowa; Raymond, of Long Beach, California; Cuma, the wife of Ross Heck, of Brookings, South Dakota; and Vivian, of Long Beach, California. To Mr. and Mrs. Anderson were born five children, as follows: Burdette, of Sioux City, Iowa, Vera, the wife of Veirl McClow, of Ida Grove; and Hobert G., Theda and James, who are at home with their mother. Politically Mr. Anderson was a lifelong supporter of the republican party and took an active interest in local public affairs, having served as a member of the city council. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias. He was eminently public-spirited, contributing of his efforts to the prosperity and upbuilding of the community and held an enviable place in public confidence and esteem. The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 7, 1907 WILLIAM MCKLVEEN died at his home near Eligonier, Penn., last week at the advanced age of 90 years. His death was the result of disease peculiar to old age. He was the last surviving uncle of the three MCKLVEEN brothers of this city, and of the children of the late HUGH LARIMER. He was a consistent member of the Lutheran Church and had been a lifelong Democrat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert December 5, 2004 iggy29@rnetinc.net http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm posted at this site with Nancee's permission
There is a Jacob MOYER b Baden, GE, age 27, and wife Hannah, age 28, on the 1880 Hazleton census. Does anyone know anything about this family? Specifically, I'm wondering if Hannah's maiden name is WELLER, if Jacob MOYER might have been either a stepson or child of a first marriage for Mary DINKLOCKER, who he lived next to in 1880. Additionally, if anyone knows when Jacob died, I'd like to be able to get a death cert/obit for him. Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Sharon
