    3. I think Sam must have died between 1850 and 1860. Martha Parrish, age 66, and son William, age 14, are living in Lake County, IN, P.O. Crown Point, Hobart Township in the 1860 Census. They are both listed as farmers. Living with them is one Jane White, 38, Seamstress. 3. I see a John Oliver in the 1900 census who could be the same man. I could not find Fred in 1900. John Oliver, Head, born January 1829, 71 yrs., Married 14 years, he & parents born England emigrated in 1850, been in US for 50 yrs. Wife Caroline, born Pennsylvania as well as parents, married 14 years. New York, Cattaraugus County, 3rd Ward, Olean City The only way you can tell if this is your man is to get a death record which might name his parents. His first wife may have died. Since this wife was born in PA, it could be a fit. I'm not sure what luck you'd have finding his naturalization papers or immigration records. Hope it helps a little. 3. Diane: To the best of my knowledge, no. Sure would be nice. You must contact the Bureau of Vital Statistics in New Castle. Of course you must have specific information as they don't do searches and there are fees involved. By the way, approximately what is the time frame of the death? Just thought of a possibility. 2. Thanks for all the comments! I am paying (the "monthly") for Ancestry because I kept coming up with a lot of areas I couldn't get into with the free account and since I became a paying member, I have been able to get a lot of info thru there! Just yesterday I found that I had a Grandfather's middle initial wrong, found his wife's middle initial and that his dad (whose name I did not know) was living with him at age 75 yrs (in 1900 Census Records) plus my Grandma & Aunt (his daughters) had a brother! *G* I called my mom to ask if she remembered about there being a brother and she had me call a cousin who is older than she is who confirmed the info I had found! *G* I had hit a brick wall with that branch and have now again, but I won't give up! LOL! This Branch I am talking about is George E. Lewis who married Emma E. Dowd - their kids and his Father whose name is Hurum E. Lewis. Louisa Faw Fraternal - Bish, Bailey, Martin, Winchester, etc. Maternal - Bailey, Pangborn, Steadman, McCain, Lewis, Dowd, etc... All of PA & NY (mostly)

    2. Hi Gill, I can help with some of this: 1900 - Allegheny County, Charties Township is still around today, only now it is called Robinson Township, Allegheny County - (suburbs of Pittsburgh) 1910 - The 2nd Ward is basically downtown Pittsburgh today. 1920: 15th Ward- I was not familiar with the street names but it appears to be Pittsburgh along the Monogahela River side of the city 1930 - District 224 is PITTSBURGH CITY, WARD 14 (PART), BOUNDED BY (N) 5TH AVE.; (SE) HASTINGS; (W) SHADY AVE 1930 Wd 16 - This area appears to be what we now call the 'Southside'. It is across the Monogahela River from downtown Pittsburgh but Exeter St. is on the opposite side of the Mon River near Calvary Cemetery/Hazelwood Area of Pittsburgh. Hope this helps.
