    1. Re: [PA] Request , please: where was Fort Reed?
    2. Fort Reed (1775 - 1778), Lock Haven A settlers' fort evacuated during the "Big Runaway" of 1778. A few miles south of the present location of Fort Indiantown Gap, in 1755, the house of Adam Reed, Esquire, was turned into a fort. Reed used this fort to protect the people of the countryside from sudden Indian attacks. One might say that Adam Reed was the first “Commander” of Fort Indiantown Gap. Ft. Indiantown Gap. 3. Kate, if you just google "Fort Reed" you'll see a bunch in different states. What's important is what time period you are referring to because I see reference to Colonial, Civil and French/Indian wars. 2. Peggie Longwell
    3. Hi All- This is an AMAZING website-I am looking for ANY information about a train wreck that occurred near Albany, NY about 1920 when the Hudson River was frozen. My uncle was supposed to have been a mail clerk on that train and he received grave injuries that kept him hospitalized for more than 7 years. He was never the same afterwards, suffering from paranoia, thinking that someone was coming to kill him everywhere he went. He lived with my grandmother until his death (and his children were made wards of the state when his wife was institutionalized as a schizophrenic.) Sad family story, but I remember him as a gifted musician and a very personable fellow. Ironic, that there was a wreck listed there from my hometown of Middletown, NY. I will definitely keep this as a favorite site to visit. Peggie in soggy Oregon. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. List, I am at my wits end trying to find the parents of Christian Stouffer b.11-20-1820 d.11-13-1896. Christian was born in Chambersburg, Franklin Co. First wife's name was Sarah Burkholder b.4-8-1825 d.2-14-1862. I am decended from this marriage. The only thing I know about this family is that according to the 1880 census Christian had a brother-in-law named Henry Stouffer age 65 living with him. Am I correct that a Stouffer married a Stouffer ? Anyone know of this family? I have exhausted all the normal channels of information. Thanks, Jim Stouffer

    1. [PA] O'Hales School House in York County, Pennsylvania
    2. Tom Baker
    3. Good morning everyone! According to an oral history interview with my grandmother and father, my grandfather was educated at a school called O'Hales. We are not even sure of the spelling. They think it was a one room school house. It was located near the borough of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania in York County. From a few well educated guesses, we think it was located in what is now called Carrol Township and has since been turned into a house. Anyone have any leads or heard of it? Any recommendations from the list on how to go about finding more information? Thanks so much, Thomas Baker York Haven, PA
