    3. That is a very good question Mary. One I had not even thought of. Thank you. Where would one go to check those records for a possible birth? This family has me stumped, puzzled, befuddled, among other things. I do not have a clue as to his origins. Somerset County did not keep records of marriages until much later so hmmm. I wonder.......

Married 1825 Somerset Co PA Catherine Growall, have checked census records on line for Somerset Co PA no Mack/Mac/Moch/Mock in 1810 or 1820 Somerset Co PA. I am wanting to find his birth family. He is very elusive. Thanks so much

William Smither b Abt 1710 Unk d May 1760 New Albany, Berks Co Pa +1Maria Catharina JEAKY 5 Aug 1734 Burlington, NJ. Wedding record in N. J. Archives, 1st series, Maria Catharina Schmedder died 11/11/1780 and is buried at Lowhill Church, Lehigh Co, Pa == he did not know where she was born or who her parents were, but did know remd 1764 - Marie Catharina Jeaky m2 Jacob Bachman after William Smither died In 1789 Catherine was living in Weissenberg Township which I believe is Lehigh Co which is next door to Northampton but it is also next door to Berks, Bucks, etc. I check census with no results. [Was Catherine dec'd or alive by the way this will reads?] If she was living wouldn't she be going by her married name Bachman in 1790 census? 1789 Will: [107] Bachman, Jacob senior. Weissenberg Twp., yeoman. Will executed: 30 Apr 1787; will probated 27 Oct 1789. Catherine, wife and late widow of William Schmetter of Albany Twp., Berks. They would probably have come into Philadelphia as they ended up in Chester County.
