Sally, Found this on Rev. Weyberg: http://www.dreisbachfamily.org/sketches.html Rev. Casper Diedrich Weyberg Casper Diedrich Weyberg was born at Westofen, in the county of Mark, in Westphalia, Germany. He attended the Latin school at Freemonia-Dortmand and the university at Duisburg. He was examined and commissioned to go to Pennsylvania, Sept. 8-9, 1761. After some delay he sailed and reached Easton, March 3, 1763. He is described as "a tall, slim man, with a powerful voice." On Oct. 8, 1863, he accepted a call to Philadelphia. Weyberg is said to have served as chaplain in the Revolution, and while the British were occupying Philadelphia, the Hessian soldiers thronged to hear him preach. He seized the opportunity and boldly asserted in the American Cause, that many of them deserted. Weyberg was arrested by the English authorities and imprisoned. The Rev. Berg in his "Christian Landmarks" pages 16-17 writes: "I have been assured by aged members of the church, that it used to be confidently affirmed that the Hessians would, in all probability, to a man have left the British service, if the old Father had not been silenced." He died, Aug. 21 1790, and was buried in the Reformed cemetery, now Franklin Square, Philadelphia. Other links that mention the Rev. Debra, We're beginning to stray a bit off the topic of this list here now, but the questions you raise are similar to what I keep running into in trying to trace this line. In many way, it raises more questions than it answers, but I do not give up easily. As for the Bradford line, yes I am currently working on an ongoing project of tracing it out "from the other end" as well. Oddly enough, with the John Bradford in question being in my mother's ancestry, tracing the line from Gov. Bradford forward has disclosed no less than for confirmed connections with my FATHER's line, although not direct ancestors to me. I also have a copy of the Society of Mayflower Descendants "Silver Book" for the Bradford line, which contains confirmed and documented lineage, but it only goes for five generations, which is another reason I want to find John's parents. The Silver Book stops what I believe to be one generation too soon, so I cannot connect anything with any certainty. Anyway, we really are straying here, but I thank you for your help. I will go through your information in detail and see what I can find, and I do thank you for your help and suggestions. Somehow, someday I will find it. .hopefully. David E. Have you looked for descendent info on Gov. Bradford? Maybe tracking from the other end of the trail will help you to make the connection...maybe. Good luck with your search! Debra <snip>
After I got into Mid Atlantic, I went to Databases, then Pennsylvania however it was not listed. Is it somewhere else. Thanks, Jan

Debra, I had found this census entry some time ago, but I somehow cannot convince myself it is the same person based on information in the census. The wife is different, but I have reason to believe Sarah died and he may well have remarried. A lot of similarities exist though, and you have me rethinking the situation with your information below. This individual has been a stumbling block to me for quite some time now, but if I live long enough maybe someday I will find his parents so I can take it back another generation or two. We were always told by my g-grandmother (his g-g'daughter) that he descends from Gov. Bradford of the Mayflower, which may or may not be true, but wherever the trail leads me I'd sure like to find his parents. In any event, I thank you for your reply. I will give this some more thought, as this John Bradford could be him. David E. This is my latest attempt to get over or around one of my longest standing "brick walls." This John Bradford was my 4g-grandfather, and I have absolutely nothing on his parents or siblings, not even a name. Following is his vital information: JOHN BRADFORD b. 25 Jul 1798 (in most likely PA or TN) m. Sarah Blades 20 Jan 1817 in Franklin Co., IN d. unknown, but last found in the census in 1860 Children: Isaac (1827-1908) Harvey (1828-1900) Emaline Mary (1830- ) John Herod (1832-1904) Sarah Ann (1833-1900) Jonathan William (1838-1903( I have found places of birth of "Tenn" on one census and "Penn" on another census, but the difference may well just be poor handwriting. However, I have also found some folks who believe he could have been born in MD, VA, or NC so this only adds to the confusion. He married Sarah in Franklin Co., IN and was last found there in the 1860 census as a widower living with his children, so I am surmising he died between 1860 and 1870. If anyone out there thinks this sounds familiar, or possibly has some parents and siblings for this John Bradford, I would be extatic. He has been my one major brick almost as long as I have been doing genealogy, and I would sure like to find him. I do not want to think that he stepped off of a space ship in Tennessee or Pennsylvania in 1798 and has never had any siblings or parents, but I am to the point where that is the only thing that fits the details I have been able to piece together. Lindsey
Since the passenger lists are free at Ancestry until the end of the years, why don't you look for them there? Maybe you'll get lucky. Hello - I am trying to find information abt. Marriages performed by Rev. CASPER WEYBERG, apparently at the First Reformed Church of Phila. Can someone fill me in on this Minister, I am seeking more data abt. a Marriage he performed Mar. 12, 1829 between MATTHIAS EDEL & ANN DENING ... I viewed a film # 20352 at my FHC and it did not cover 1829 , and cannot locate any film for that year, for this Church, I understand it moved...... so perhaps there is a film devoted to Rev. WEYBERG, and his Services, and I can search the Marriage that way, as well as other EDEL ancestors. listed ........ don't know if I worded this clearly , but I appreciate any input on this, Thanks, Sally
Yes, I never thought of it before, but it could be Fraim or Fraime or even Farnen or Farren. It originated in Scotland. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Don, I am not such a thin skinned person who is easily upset for what people say. I am trying to locate where my ggg grandfather was really married. Nancy
Mary, my ggrandfather was a James from Tippperrary Ireland, everyone is James or Anna though, that's why this family is so difficult. Thanks linda
