In the 1900 census, it states that his father was from PA also in the 1860-1880 census. His birth state listed is different every year. Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia...I honestly think he was hiding or something. He also went by the name Burton in a few census'. I am wondering if the Hollars name is/was big in Pennsylvania. http://www.archives.gov/ for pension records. I got a huge amount of information for my civil war ancestor, with pension applications and everything. There was information there that I wasn't expecting - like his marriage date and place, and even the presiding minister's name! Then I sent for my father's information, and even got a photo of him (WWII) when he enlisted. It always seems to cost me about $50, though. But worth it! Anna, I forgot who ask the question about Freeman Hawkins Funeral Home. I did a check through a funeral directory (on line) and there were three operating under the name Hawkins. Someone might start there because sometimes the partners buy each other out. -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Anna's Genealogy" <AnnasGeneology@nc.rr.com> > I sure will. Someone suggested seeing if I could get a high school yearbook, but I havent been able to find an address for the high school. Is it the high school I write or somewhere else. I also would like to get any info on her murder. I have the article in the paper, but would love to find out more. Where could I go for more info? Thanks so much for any help you can give me. Hi Nancy, Do you know what would happen to the records? I talked to Eden cemetery and they felt that a Williams Funeral home took over, she said she thought it was 41st and Haverford where it was located. Still didn't find that. Thanks, I called every Hawkins who had a funeral home online, they all had phone numbers that were cut off. If I remember correctly I only called 2 can you send the number to all three? I also tried the ones listed at 4075 Haverty and no answer at those. I did a check through a funeral directory (on line) and there were three operating under the name Hawkins. Someone might start there because sometimes the partners buy each other out. -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Anna's Genealogy" <AnnasGeneology@nc.rr.com> > I sure will. There is a James V. Williams Funeral Home (looks like a multiple-location operation) at 4075 Haverford Ave. Phone number is 215-382-2450.
