Just to step on in here. Sometimes a name, and especially a middle name, can be a friend or someone in the community that was admired. My gr grandfather Penningtons middle name was Boles, and I ain't found Hide nor Hair of a Boles in the family except that they were a part of their community. So sometimes it was someone that helped the family out or well even delivered the baby. Of course it could be like an in-law in the family. Sometimes that happened. Just thought I'd add that.
