    3. Well, [giggle] I've always heard the story about an Uncle of mine in the Pennington line that kept a gun either strapped to his hip or a rifle nearby, and yes it was in this near defunct century. It seems there was a man that liked to ride his horse into the women's parlors in the community and so my uncle took care of it. And the deceaseds (sp?) family said they'd get my gr gr Uncle. Later two nephews of his went to visit him and he was plowing and before they could identify theirselves he had the draw on them. They had to quickly talk I must say! So, oh yea, the feudin' did exist. -----Original Message----- From: CHUCK PENNINGTON [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, December 12, 1999 8:36 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [PENNINGTON-L] Druken, feuding Pennington's from Leslie County KY. Here is a little tid bit I came up with recently from the newspaper Mt. Echo in Leslie County Kentucky. Does anyone know the rest of the story. Excerpts from the Mt. Echo JULY 19, 1901 LESLIE COUNTY There was a double killing Saturday night about eight miles from here at a dance highly flavored with bourbon whisky. Finley Cornett, son of James Cornett, and Elhannan Pennington's son Alex were killed. Jonathan Pennington is now in jail charged with the killing of Cornett and further trouble is expected, as both sides are of large families and excitement is high.
