The "other" Timothy in KY! I'm very happy to hear from someone with info on this family. As you may know, there was a Timothy Pennington who lived in Barren Co., KY who is thought to be the son of Ephraim of NC and brother of Richard P. who married Hannah Boone Stewart, but there have been "rumors" of another Timothy in the same time and nearby, so it's sometimes difficult to sort out who was who, or even if they were different people or not. With the name Ephraim appearing among your Timothy's descendants it's tempting to think that maybe, just maybe, there was a close relationship or even identity between the two Timothy's in late 18th cent. KY. Or it's even possible that your Timothy is the one who was Richard's brother, and not mine, although that's not very likely given the fact that children of "my" Timothy and Richard kept in touch for a generation or two, and some moved around in each other's footsteps as they migrated north and west. Timothy & Richard who were sons of Ephraim are thought to have been born in PA, moved to Rowan Co., NC with father Ephraim, then after the Revolution (when they were both in Capt. Enoch Osborne's militia company, along with other Penningtons), Timothy and later Richard moved their families to south central KY. The next generation in my line (Timothy's son, Riggs) moved to Crawford Co., IN, several counties in IL (Franklin, Knox & McDonough) and finally to Washington Co., TX, spending about a year on the road in that final trek. The 12-wagonsful of pioneers stopped in MO and Hot Springs, Arkansas on the way for varying periods in 1836-37. Family tradition says they arrived in Washington Co., TX, near Independence, a week or two after the Battle of San Jacinto. The letter I have from one grandson of Riggs to another talks about Timothy, and that he was born in PA, but doesn't mention his wife's name. I've been told he was married to Susannah "Nancy" Riggs, but aside from a court record in KY with the names of Timothy & Susannah Pennington that I've only heard about, I don't know where the information about Timothy's wife's name is documented. Do you have dates and places for your Timothy family you'd care to share with us? What about other children besides Ephraim?
