Dear Donna and other Group "7"... Send your "Wish list" to me directly...I will then assemble the info. As some of you know...I have been collecting info from group members about their Penningtons. I have inputted them as sources within my gedcom and if they gave me sources I have done that as well. I think that this has actually been fairly successfull...If you have been keeping an eye on the Pennington web site...you will find that I have uncovered some new and problematic info. Let me tell you what the status is that I know right now... Micajah Pennington and Rachel Jones: There are proven parents for Micajah and Rachel...I, personally believe that Micajah is Benajah's son as do many others. The Ancestral file offers Ann Dibble and Hezekiah Jones as Rachel Jones parents...still definitely not proven. Elijah Pennington...we have a wedding date with Susannah Kelly but no further info on them. (There is part of my wish list) Micajah Pennington, Jr....we certainly have some very good information on this family but the majority is from Margaret Pennington Parson's line and Charles Pennington's family. There is definitely room for work with this family...I think that he probably had several more children and I suspect that some of our other groups in Ashe Co. NC and Lee Co., VA are probably connected through either Micajah or Levi Pennington. (This is a personal opinion...not proven information) Mary Pennington...There is more and more info emerging about the Bollings...we've also found some interconnections with some of the other Pennington families...I'm still gathering info...I will be updating the web site soon on this family line. Levi Pennington is my personal ancestor...he also seems to be one of the mysterious ones. We don't have a definite list of children for him. The only child that we have relatively sure of is Levi Pennington (Jr.) for our purposes...he, of course has an extensive list of children...I would like to see a will for Levi Pennington...that would certainly clear up some issues on this line...it would be in either Wilkes Co., NC or Ashe Co., NC. Edward Pennington....I think that many of the group 7 members of the past have been descended from Edward Pennington...he certainly seems to be the most long-lived. Lee County, VA has done a very good job documenting this family. Anyway...this line is probably the most "fully" formed in terms of info....there is still work to be done...OF COURSE! Elizabeth Pennington - Her application for a pension for her husband is probably one of the best preserved documents for this family group. We have a copy of the bible that provided the dates and names of all of the Pennington family. (the first generation) Of late, I've been able to piece together some of her family info based on the 1850 census. Would like one of the descendants of this family to join the PRA...would probably add some important info. Sarah Pennington. We have some new info on the Barger family that intermarries with Mary Pennington's descendants. However, as we all know...the Johnson surname is very difficult to research...I know this from personal experience. We need further info on this family...perhaps a copy of the Pension application of Sarah's husband, Samuel Johnson would be valuable...hint, hint! Johanna Pennington...I've been able to fill out some of the info on Johanna's line also based on the 1850 census. Still...it would be great to be able to find a descendant of this line. Benajah Pennington....This is probably the most problematic family group. Many of the members of Group 7 who are descended from Benajah are probably descended not from a son of Micajah Pennington...but rather a son of Benajah Pennington. This is definitely a family that needs a great deal more work. The other Benajah that is a son of Micajah exists somewhere with his own family info...that family line and its info is definitely on my wish list... Rachel Pennington...I think that she must have died young...I've seen no further info on her beyond the mention in the bible record...it would be great to have proof of this...however! I think that Group 7 should be changed to reflect some of the newer info. For example, even though Micajah is not a proven son of Benajah Pennington...I believe that he is almost certainly Benajah's son. I would like to see Group 7 listed as descendants of Benajah Pennington and Micajah Pennington...Please remember that this is a personal opinion...I would however, like to hear some feed back. We need to work at sharing info and cooperation with one another. As always...please keep an eye on the Pennington Page for Group 7...if you've never visited...there are old family pictures, data, and I try to post the newer info on each family group on this page. If you have comments, info to add, or problems with any of the info...please let me know. Happy New Year!
