    3. Hi, I have this same group of Penningtons and Harpers. I have a few things I can add. > 4. John George, 1722-after 1797 John George Pennington definitely died in 1797. His will is dated 2 Jan 1797. Will was admitted to Court 10 April 1797. John George Pennington's will only mentions a daughter, Martha. I did gather enough information to prove that this is Martha Harper if anyone is interested. Martha Pennington, according to my records, was born 1768. She is listed as age 82 on the 1850 census. On the 1860 Mortality Census, she was listed as 92. According to that census, she died March, 1860. Reginald, I also have John Harper (m. to Frances) having sons Wyatt and John ( married to Martha Pennington). Question: Did you ever find a source for giving that John (m. to Frances) the middle name of Peterson? I still find nothing to indicate that fact. The first time I see a John Peterson Harper is the son of John Harper (m. to Martha Pennington). I'm thinking that the child, John Peterson Harper, may have been an adult before the father, John Harper, died. In county records, to keep them straight, the youngest would be called Jr., not matter if the middle names were the same. As long as they both went by "John" they would be Sr. and Jr. I have a lot of information, but no middle name Peterson for the oldest John Harper. Regarding the William Pennington that married Celia Smithson. Mecklenburg Co. Deed Book 20, p. 447 shows Drury & Benjamin Pennington acting as Commissioners for the Court to sell the Estate of William Pennington, dec'd, which was lately held in dower by Druselly Murrell, lately Druselly Pennington. This was in 1824. The Mecklenburg co. marriage records show that Celia Pennington married William Murrell 6 Feb. 1811. This would give us a death date for William Pennington, before Feb. 1811. (I just didn't see anything definite as for a death date for him in going through records quickly). I, too, am interested in information regarding the maiden names of some of the wives: John George Pennington, m. to Mary ??? Thomas Penenton m. Mary (Allen?) John Harper m. Frances ??? Hope we can all find some answers. Sue
