(Martha Pennington was the Aunt of Mary M. Pennington) Pennington Information sent me from Steve Privett, has Mary M. Pennington as tthe daughter of William M. Pennington and Drusilla Smithson. William M. Pennington was the son of John George Pennington. These records show the children of William M. Pennington and Drusilla Smithson (Pennington) to be: John Pennington Benjamin Pennington Charles S. Pennington Clement S. Pennington Nathaniel Pennington (married 24 Aug 1824 Martha Lucy Overton) MARY M. PENNINGTON (married 30 Jul 1799 Wyatt Harper) Nancy Pennington Patsy Pennington (married Henry Lester) Sarah (Sally) Pennington (married 22 Dec 1812 John Cook) Elizabeth Pennington married march 1808 Ephrim Drum wright) Your records show that William Pennington, Sr and Celia Smithson had a son WILLIAM PENNINGTON JR and Two daughters. The record from Steve Privett did not have a son named William. DO YOU KNOW WHAT RECORDS SHOW A SON NAMED WILLIAM PENNINGTON, JR?. I see that your ancestor was JAMES PENNINGTON the son of Thomas Pennington II and MARY (ALLEN?), and the brother of John George Pennington. Your records also show that the wife of John George Pennington was MARY PARE. The Pennington web site http://www.penningtonresearch.org/researchaids/famgroups/fg10.html suggests that his wife's name was MARY SMITH. However in the same web page Mrs. Lillian Stamp, a descendant of John George Pennington, states that a correction should be made because MARY SMITh, the daughter of John and Paulina Smith ,was the wife of James Pennington, SR, the brother of John George Pennington. However Mrs Stamp did not indicate what Mary's maiden name might be. SINCE THIS JAMES PENNINGTON IS YOUR ANCESTROR, HAVE YOU FOUND MARY SMITH TO BE THE WIFE OF JAMES PENNINGTON?
