The IGI is the International Genealogical Index, and is a record of research and church actions taken by the LDS (Mormon) church. They also have another file called the Ancestral File, which consists of family history records (GEDCOM files) that people have sent to them. Both contain enormous numbers of names. Keep in mind that since the Ancestral File consists of data that has been donated by all sorts of genealogists, some good and some not so good, it is also full of errors.
