    2. PRINCETON - Mrs. Gretchen Pennington Jarrell, 90, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Princeton Community Hospital. Born May 6, 1909, at Athens, she was the daughter of the late Edward Gaston and Minnie Elizabeth Scott Pennington. A lifelong resident of Mercer County, Mrs. Jarrell graduated from Princeton High School and for several years had taught school at the Shumate School, Ingleside, and Littlesburg areas. She was a member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton, and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the New Hope Extension Homemaker Club. She was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Josephine Clemson. Survivors include her devoted husband of 65 years, Fred Jarrell; three sisters, Envah Hager, Bernice Tincher, and Janice Cordle, all of Princeton; three brothers, Edward Pennington of Radford, Va., James C. Pennington of Oceana, and Chauncie T. Pennington of Clear Fork; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with the Revs. Gary Swogger and Clarence Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton. >From The Register-Herald, Beckley, West Virginia
