Dear Roy, I am afraid that is not much to go on. My family was from Aston-by-Sutton near Runcorn Cheshire not 5 miles from you. If you go to www.penningtonresearch.org you can see the family details under family groups (group 33). It sounds like you need to do the routine PRO look up which should get you back to 1837. Failing that, check out the DNA study which could hook you up with another Pennington family tree. I would love to see someone from so close a location to my ancestors participate in this study.
