Dear Virginia, The Levi Pennington that married Margaret "Peggy" Cowan was Levi III. He was oldest son of Levi Jr. and Elizabeth. Levi Jr. moved to Spartanburg Co., SC abt 1798. Levi III was b. 1781 Rowan Co., NC., and d. 1813 in Orange County, NC. There is a copy of LEVI III's and Peggy's marriage license in Pennington Pedigrees Vol. 23, #1, pp 24 (1991). Wm. P. Johnson was a C.G. and at one time was working excclusively for PRA and Bee Holmes.
