Hi, I'm just now getting back to gathering proof for the maiden names. The above Mary is sometimes said to be Mary Allen, daughter of Arthur Allen and his wife, Katherine Baker. In other data, I simply see "Mary" or Mary ? I have an abstract of Arthur Allens' will, and he names children: James, Joseph, Arthur, John, Elizabeth Bridger (m. to Wm. Bridger), Katherine, Ann, MARY; also nephew Joseph Bridger; sisters: Jean Proctor and Elizabeth Jackman; grandchildren: Joseph, Martha, William, and Samuell Bridger. Written 1709; Probated 1710. In 1711, the above son, James Allen, died. He mentioned brothers Arthur, John, and Joseph; mother Katherine Allen; cousin: Arthur Bridger; sisters: Elizabeth Bridger, Ann Allen, and MARY Allen. Also Margaret Coker, wife of John Coker. No doubt that this James is the son of Arthur. In 1735, there is the will of Elizabeth Allen. Mentions friend, Thomas Alstin; Hannah Seward; Ann Collier; Mary Penington; Mary Knot; Thomas Hawkes; Goddaughter, Elizabeth Evans. Exec: Thos. Alstin. Mary Pennington appears. Is there other information that shows the link to Arthur Allen? The only thing I can see is that Arthur had daughters named Mary and Ann, and Elizabeth Allen did mention an Ann, and a Mary. In fact, she mentioned TWO Marys ( Pennington and Knot ). This Elizabeth Allen who died can not be the daughter of Arthur, since that Elizabeth was already married to a Bridger..... unless she was born an Allen, married a Bridger, and then married an Allen. Doesn't seem likely. When Thomas Pennington died (husband of Mary) one of the witnesses was a Thomas Allstin. This may be the same one in Elizabeth Allen's will. But does that prove that Mary was an Allen? Unfortunately, Elizabeth Allen did not mention relationships, except that Thomas Alstin was a friend. So, we don't know if Mary Pennington was related to her, or was a friend also, or a neighbor. Cousin? Evidently not a sister. Unless Mary and Elizabeth were daughters of a different set of parents? Is there some other missing piece of information? The only thing I have here are the abstracts of those few wills. I am also interested in the Tabitha Niblet who witnessed Elizabeth Allen's will. Does anyone know who she is? I would appreciate any help! Thanks. Sue
