Julia: You asked, "i think this is a simple question. as i'm not currently a PRA member & wasn't around for the beginning of the JFMF compilation (i do understand it's an ongoing item), i'd like to ask if the JFMF only includes names from the currently established family groups or does it also contain gedcoms from unassigned branches of PENNINGTONs. for example, if i had my PENNINGTON line all buttoned up (which i don't, but bear with me) & wanted to add it to the JFMF, would i be able to submit it even though i haven't connected with one of the 30 groups? in addition, would i have to be a PRA member first? i don't remember seeing the answers to these questions on the website so i thought i'd ask them here." The answer to your first question is YES, the JFMF does contain names that are NOT yet assigned to a Family Group. These "unconnected" names are just waiting for somebody to step forward and become a Family Group Leader and to be assigned a Group description and number. The answer to your second question is YES, the PRA accepts GEDCOM files and genealogical reports from any researcher of the Pennington surname. We do have a format for submitting the data and reports to help us track and enter the information into the JFMF. If anybody is interested in submitting a GEDCOM file or genealogical report, please contact me for details. The answer to your third question is NO, you do not have to be a PRA member to submit either a GEDCOM file or a genealogical report to the PRA.
