The date of William Pennington's will is 27 Sept 27. 1783, proved 23 Feb. 1784 (Brunswick Co., VA, Will Book 2 pp. 259-261) names Sack Pennington as executor. William's brother, Edward, left a will dated 1752, Brunswick Co., VA., so that is likely causing the confusion in the dates of the Pennington wills. Children named in the will do not include a Holmes P.; however, a PENNINGTON HOLMES is named as a grandson. Family named in the will are: Betsy Collier, Rebeccah Collier, Elizabeth Collier, granddaughters; John Bugg, son-in-law; Benjamin Bugg, grandson; Pennington Holmes, grandson; Elizabeth Holmes, granddaughter; Edward Collier, grandson; Bettey, daughter; Sack Pennington, son; There were other children, according to data collected by Steve Privett and the PRA, who are not named in the will. My ggg-grandmother was Lucy Pennington Bugg, who m. John Bugg, identified as a son-in-law in William's will. My gg-grandfather is named Sack H. Gee, so I have long looked for the source of "Sack" as a Christian name in the Pennington-Bugg line, and wondered if William's mother or wife's surname could have been "Sack." I posted several Pennington, Bugg and Gee wills to the Pennington list recently, and I do have an extra copy of both William and Edward's wills, which I'll be glad to mail you if you'll send me your address. Thanks, Jemima Gee Morse
