    3. Hi, Is your MORRIS line from VA, Southside in particular? The family there married into more of our family lines; one of the was HOLLOWAY. 3. Yes, my Morris line is from Virginia and Wales, with Maryland possibly being the port of entry. There has been little success by any of us Morris Morris researchers tracking him from Indiana Territory back to Virginia. None of us has any information on ancestors past Morris Morris, who is my gr-great-grandfather. He was in Indiana Territory, Harrison County by about the turn of the 1800s. He was married to Rebecca Wilcoxson, b. in KY in Harrison County in 1811. He died about 1825. I downloaded a GEDCOM on Morris someone submitted to Ancestry.com. I managed to wade through it, being unfamiliar with reading GEDCOMs. It finally made sense to me. And I got a lead to a county in Virginia, which I can't remember! And I can't find the GEDCOM file right now. I may have to go back and download it again. There was a surprise surname which showed up in it - Armstrong. I had not heard of that one anywhere in the Morris research. But the other names seemed to fit my Morris Morris. I have not run across HOLLOWAY yet in connection with the Morrises. I can write and ask my cousin's husband in Indiana. He has done a lot of research, of a professional quality, on the Morrises for his wife. She and I share the same great-grandfather, Thomas T. Morris, born in IN. Where would Southside be? Would that date back to the late 1700s? I believe that is when Morris left for Indiana Territory. I had hoped to go to the Society of Indiana Pioneers, where both he and Rebecca are named, in order to see if I could find more than the skimpy information I found in a little corner room of a library in Clark Co., IN. I haven't even applied for membership! And I have known about this for years. Henry and Ruth Pennington Lamb are also named in the Society. They were also early pioneers, 1815, in Indiana Territory, with Morris Morris being there possibly as much as 15 years before the Lambs arrived. I would be so happy to find a clue about Morris in Virginia. Some other very remarkable things have happened in the past eight months in my finding cousins I didn't know I had! Have you heard of Nell Beck Truitt? She is active in the DAR, and is also researching the Penningtons, the Morrises, and the Boones, among others. The more we find by chance about our common surnames, the more convinced we are that we will be end up being cousins. She may even be related to my daughter-in-law, who is a direct descendent of Daniel Boone through her grandmother! She and my son have been married 27 years, and we just discovered this relationship when I began to relate to her some of our family history. There are Morrises in her family too! She got up and came back with an album of her grandmother's which had the family relationships in it. She is from Indiana as are we. We live in Florida now though, as do our son and daughter and their families. When I get that GEDCOM information, I will send it on to you. Virginia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Audrey E. 3. Good morning, Umm, I don't know where to begin. The MORRIS family I am most familiar with was in Brunswick, Lunenburg and Mecklenburg, break-off counties from each other, along Southside VA. I do know that the name MORRIS appears in some Quaker families of NC. I think it was a Joseph MORRIS who married a POOL girl. I found a PENENTON (PENNINGTON ) record or two in Surry Co, VA, but much earlier than your Ruth. Believe these PENNINGTONS are seen later in the counties mentioned above because they broke from Surry. I'm going to type in a will from Surry I think you will be interested in, perhaps a connection for you.
