I am looking for information on Charles William Pennington born June 01, 1865 in Lebanon, Missouri. Parents unknown. This is the Charles who married Emma Stewart in Lee Co., VA. There has been some confusion with the Charles who married Arminta Clarkson....these are not the same person. A man was kind enough to send me the marriage license information on both Charles. My Charles (born 1865) was adopted by the family with the ELY from Jonesville, VA. Mr. ELY did not want to change Charle's name so he would remember where he came from. Charles had two brothers--Doc & Ollie. Both of them were also adopted out but families are unknown also. He was a deputy sheriff of Harlan Co., KY for nearly 22 years before his death in 1947.
