Hi, I would like to post an Obit. It is for my Great-Great Grandmother. Her maiden name was Pennington . Her name was Martha Ellen Pennington. She was born in either Indiana or Kentucky. She was the daughter of George (Charles) Pennington and Carrie (Caroline?) Angeline Brown I've seen both listed. She married Joseph C. Robertson in Henderson, Ky in 1882. She and Joseph had 11 children and moved sometime in the early 1920's to Louisville, Ky where she resided until her death in 1937. Her obit appeared in the Louisville Courier-Journal on June 21, 1937. And is listed in full below: Robertson- Sunday, June 20, 1937 at 2pm. Mrs. Martha E. Robertson, (nee Pennington) age 72 years. Mother of John, Grover, Joseph C. and Benjamin Robertson. Daughters, Mrs. Pearl Kaltofen, Mrs. Carrie Ramey, Mrs. Mary Rudinski, Mrs. Dollie Jett, Mrs. Elizabeth Hager, Mrs. Mamie Stoll, and Mrs. Anna Christison. Funeral from the residence of her daughter, Mrs Mamie Stoll, 913 E. Walnut St. Tuesday at 3 pm, Interment in Eastern Cemetery. Louisville, Ky. It is for all Penningtons and those related to Penningtons. The Pennington connection should be mentioned in the obit or in a comment following the obit. Anyone may post their family obits on the Rootsweb list. Until a few months ago, the obituaries were on a separate board (a format I personally liked better), but now they are mixed with the queries. If I see a new obit posting or one is sent to me on the present board, I pick it up, add it to this list as an obituary and post it in the obit database that I am keeping in my computer. I have been keeping the database for about two years. I went through all of the old Pedigrees and Cousins' Couriers to begin with and have added new ones as they come along. I send the new ones to John to include in the Pedigrees. Sometimes he gets them before I do so I pick them up from there. The obits do not have to be new ones; many of the! > old ones have a lot of information in them and the writing styles may be unique. > > If you post an obituary or send one to me to post, please give me a source. If it is from a newspaper, I need the name, city, state and date of the newspaper. If there is another author or you are the author, please give me a name, city and state. Information should include names of spouses and parents, children, date and place of birth of deceased, place of burial and may include other brief facts about the deceased. > > We have over 500 obituaries at the present time. I am sure there are many more that could be included. Several PRA members are regular contributors. I will send some information to John for the next Pedigree or whenever he can get it in. It might be a good idea to publish the whole list in one of the Pedigrees. I hope this clears up some of your questions. If not, let me know. > > > Margaret Wood > PRA Obituary Database Editor > > > > > ==== PENNINGTON Mailing List ==== > This Pennington mail list is hosted by Rootsweb. > To subscribe to Rootsweb, and show your support of their efforts, see > http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html > >
