I have added some new Pennington land documents and a few pictures to the Group 7 web page. I recently visited Ashe Co., NC and photocopied several land documents...included on the Pennington Documents 2 are the following documents. NEW - Land Grant to Micajah Pennington 1799. NEW - Land Grant to Micajah Pennington 1801. NEW - Land Grant to Ephraim Pennington 1800. NEW - Land Deed between Levi Pennington and David Worth. NEW - Land Deed between Elijah Pennington and Nathan Eastrage. NEW - Land Deed between Harvey Pennington and Levi Pennington. On the land deed between Levi Pennington and David Worth...there are differing dates. One date records the actual land transaction, and the other date is listed by the probate judge. The first date is in 1857 and seems to be the actual transaction. The second date is 4 May 1877 and states that the deed was proven to the Probate judge. The reason why I ask...is that we have a death date for Levi Pennington of before 1880. Could this date...the 1877 date be a date of the probate of Levi Pennington's will. Note...this Levi Pennington is the grandson of Micajah Pennington and Rachel Jones...not their son.
