    1. [Pennington-L] Group 2 Vs. New Group
    2. Thanks to all the e-mails received from my last posting in regard to Group 2 vs new Group. I am still looking for Franklin and I have some other information to share with you. I believe that Brian Cartwright found the right Robert Pennington (born about 1828 according to 1850 census). He was the son of Jacob Pennington (born about 1804) who was the son of another Jacob Pennington (born about 1765). According to my mother (Anna Treaster-Pennington), Robert was a civil war soldier. She thought his son Frank Pennington was about 12 or 14 when his father left. After the war, Robert did not return home and his wife Susan did not receive any news from or about him and assumed he was killed. However, when she took legal steps to declare him dead, she found he was still alive. The marriage was dissolved and she married a wounded veteran "by the last name of Wilkerson; they owned a grocery store in Clearfield County, PA". This last was confirmed by my cousin who is 86. She also said Frank worked for his keep before he was 10 years old, so he was probably in a different household. I found a Robert Pennington in Centre County in 1860 who was listed as age 36, living with the Kerr family and I wonder if this could be my Robert. There was a Franklin living with a Henry Pennington, but he was listed as 6 and is not the one I am looking for. There is a Frank Pennington buried in Halfmoon, Township, PA , who I believe is this 6 year old as the dates on the tombstone corresponds. If anyone needs it, I have the Index for the 1860 census of all the Penningtons in Centre County, PA. I am planning a trip to PA in the later part of July or early August and will try to find more information. Any facts that anyone has before I go would help. Thanks.
