    3. The only George I have is John George Pennington. Is it possible that it is him? John George Pennington is mentioned in other Lunenburg Co. records, such as being appointed surveyor of the road in 1756. 1765 was about the time Mecklenburg Co. was formed, so it's possible that his Mecklenburg Co. land was originally in Lunenburg Co. There is also a patent for John G. Pennington, Lunenburg Co., 1792. 250 acres on both sides of Maze's Branch, adjoining his own & Despanes lines. This would be before John George died, and I 've heard that sometimes it was years before these patents became official. Please let me know if you learn anything new regarding this deed information, as John George Pennington is one of my husband's direct ancestors. Thanks. 3. Sue, It could be John George, but I just don't know at this time. I'll try to look more closely at the specific pieces of property and see if indeed the reference to George Pennington's land is a piece earlier granted to John George. I do show a patent to John George in Brunswick Co in 1747. and another in Lunenburg Co in 1792 on Mazes Branch which is the one you referred to.
