If it will make you feel better, I too have received double messages for days plus as of noon Monday could not connect at all. It looks to me like they could give their customers advance warning when they shut us down---I'm a novice at this and do not know quite what to do when I get absolutely nothing for hours. I too, heard the recorded messages but the time was much longer than they indicated. Maybe we're back for awhile. I have been receiving less than 10 messages a day since July 26. It seems that MSN's servers probably have been flooded with mail, possibly from a virus or worm getting into subscribers' address books. I am fortunately not one of those people. My system is clean. When I spoke with an MSN technician earlier today I was told they are aware of the problem and are working hard on solving it and restoring full service. They are documenting reports of trouble called in by subscribers and forwarding them immediately to the supervisors to help in identifying the problem and hopefully to achieve a restoration of service. I had two messages which I sent yesterday and the day before.returned to me with the message "Undeliverable. The server is full." Today the 8 messages I received consisted of 4 messages and 4 duplicates of those messages! Please do not unsubscribe me. And please attempt delivery of my mail. Service may be restored at any moment. Thanks for your assistance in this frustrating time! I've received a few inquiries lately regarding the threaded archives... Rootsweb, our host, is upgrading the server and restoring the messages. We all hope this will be complete soon as the project has had the threaded archives down for about a month now. I'll keep you posted when they are again available. In the mean time, you can still search the archives by pointing your browser to http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/ Just enter Pennington as the name of the list, and away you goooooo... Steve P

If anyone is able to communicate with Virginia or any other msn Pennington researcher that uses MSN, let them know that they will not be unsubscribed automatically. I've tried responding to Virginia privately the last few days, when she first became aware of this problem, but all mail keeps being returned. There are a couple of other msn people on the list and I also get error messages regarding their service. Steve P Pennington listowner ginjonb46 wrote: >Please do not remove me from your list. I don't know what group you belong to, but my brother passed away from kidney disease. It has been a few years and I would have to look up dates. I am having problems with kidneys now.
I am sorry to bother the list with this, but it does concern a hereditary disorder. I am curious about a kidney disease in my Pennington line. I do not know the name of the disease, this I am hoping someone can help. I know my great grandfather Cothern Pennington died of urinary tract infections. He had them most of his life if not all of it. I do not know if anyone prior to him had the problem. I know also that medical testing was not adequate during the early 1900s even into the 1970's. Two of Cothern's children had this problem. One, my grandmother Hattie. She had to have a kidney removed. Another, her brother Elmer also had to have a kidney removed. I have had problems all of my 32 years with kidney/urinary tract infections/stones and yes even my left kidney failing a few times. I still have my kidney though, as it does work more than it doesn't. I also have white patches on my right kidney, strange as I have never had problems with it only my left. I only learned recently that this problem was in our Pennington line. I have not seen my urologist since finding out but plan to as I feel he should know this information. However, I was hoping to know more about this disease before going to him. I know he would want a name. Does one have right to a medical record after the individual is deceased? Does anyone else on this list have a kidney/urinary tract problem in their Pennington line? Thank you Kristie
Gene, I watched and recorded your recent appearance on TechTV/Call For Help program. Your presentation was very interesting and informative. Congratulations! Virginia Brown ginjonb46@msn.com Ruth PENNINGTON, Levi PENNINGTON
Hi Groupies, I know it has been awhile since hearing from me and I apologize. I thought that you should be aware of a problem I encountered. So you will know what can happen. I have brought many books from Willow Book Company. Their service is great as well as the selection. I received mail from them regarding some books I was interested in. The mail, when it was opened was blank. I could not delete and further more it locked up my computer forever, nor could I receive or send mail. I could not go to start to close it down the computer nor get into my files at all. The only thing I was able to do was go on line. So after about a week of thinking. I did not have the 5.5 version of Outlook Express, I went to the site, downloaded the new version and Lord and Behold - it moved that message (off of the first to open line) and I was able to receive back messages. If I have any LUCK- it seems to be BAD. The day before this happened, I purchased a Zip Drive to take care of the large family files I have. Well, needless to say, My same LUCK, it was defective and was sent back to the manufacturer. I have yet to hear from them and it has been over two weeks. Soooo, I have many messages from a number of you that I need to get back on. My large files are making me panic and it has not been a nice few weeks. I thought I would share this with you so you are aware that a legitimate message can lock up your computer and the only other way I know of getting rid of it is-- to save your files and reinstall the software. Thought I'd share something I'd forgotten until I ran across it this evening....Lois DEEDS -- This very interesting tidbit was passed along to me from taken from the "Minnesota Genealogical Society Newsletter - "In the lower left hand corner of most old deeds, you will find signatures of two to four witnesses. The first one is always from the husband's side. The next one is always from the wife's side. That is to protect her 1/2 dower right under the law. Nothing you will ever use will give greater clues to maiden names than witnesses on old deeds."
have u all been to this site for researching PEN's in England....Cheshire BDM site- there are lots of us there. http://cheshirebmd.org.uk/births.html

I have visited this site many times, but having the flu and a bit bored at home I looked through the site in a different way... I have only ever looked for people I knew the names of... Try looking through the site doing it in alphabetical order (it will take some time ) a page a day etc and the info that is on there for PENNINGTON researchers is incredible..There maybe sons or civilians that you didn't know about but you can piece in with the parents names on some ..have a look at this special one. The one under this was under PENNINGTON Australian nationality but proves Cheshire was his birth place Hope this can help someone... cheers Julie In Memory of T PENNINGTON Private 19288 2nd Bn., Border Regiment who died on Friday, 7th July 1916.
