Linda, As far as I know this reunion is for all Pennington's. I know those who have been attending are descendants of Simeon Pennington and Elizabeth Whitson. When I spoke to Red about the reunion he stated ALL Pennington's are welcome to attend. Hi all, I have returned safely home from Tompkinsville. I had a wonderful trip. I met new cousins and seen some I had not seen in years. As always, the Pennington's are a great bunch to be around. I really miss the trips to Tompkinsville I used to take in the 70s. I had not been since 1980 when my great grandfather Papa Cotton (Cothern Pennington) passed away. Can't give an exact count of how many were there, maybe around a 100 or so. For those of you wanting more of an advanced notice, would have been nice if I was given one this time, so that I could pass it on, here is the reunion information for next year. And I would suggest if you can be there to make reservations way in advance for a hotel because this is also the weekend of the Watermelon Festival and hotels are booked up to a year in advance for this and the nearest hotel was Cave City. However, we were able to stay at my aunt's house. Pennington Reunion August 31, 2002 at Old Mulkey State Historic Park in Tompkinsville, Monroe County, Kentucky. The Pennington Reunion is held every year the Saturday before Labor Day. I hope this information is helpful and if Gene Pennington will contact me directly I will put you in contact with Red Pennington who is the coordinator for the reunion. Kristie Setser

Carolyn, I will keep my eye out for you. I will be in a White Escort with Mississippi plates. I am about 5"4 redish brown hair down to the middle of my back. I will be wearing tan shorts, tan shirt with a black vest. Anyone wishing to meet me, just look for the tan shorts and a black vest. OK, this has been a hard job contacting people and getting all the facts on the reunion. But yes finally the good news. I know I stated in the last email that there definitely is a Pennington Reunion in Tompkinsville at Old Mulkey Park. Now, I finally contacted the person who helps coordinate this reunion. Red Pennington. He stated to me on the phone tonight that this an all Pennington Reunion. Anyone who is a descendant of a Pennington and their families are welcome to come. Bring a covered dish, family photos, and any family history you would like to share. Red said the attendance last year was over 120 people. Saturday is also the Watermelon Fest in Tompkinsville. He stated to me that they block of the roads, and that they start with the fest at Old Mulkey around 9am and it last until about 3pm. Come rain or shine. I also know this is a short notice for those that live out of state. I just found out about it this week and have spent long hours on the phone trying to get the details so that I may pass them on to the lists. Hope to see you there. Kristie Setser
