    2. My Charles William Pennington was born in 1865 in Lebanon, Laclede Co., MO. Parents are unknown at this time. He did have 2 siblings that I am aware of: Doc & Ollie. They were all adopted out to different families. The family (ELY) that took my Charles went to Lee co., VA where he married Emma Stewart. There was some confusion because there were 2 Charles in Lee Co. VA at the same time. The other was son of Greenberry who married Arminta Clarkson. I have yet to find anything on as to who were my Charles's parents. My Charles never took the name of his adopted family. They wanted him to remember his past. So much for that because Charles tried to look for his brothers prior to his death in 1947 but no such luck. Does anyone have a list of Pennington in Missouri during the time frame of 1860-1870? 3. Tammy, Our Thomas Pennington was a member of a gang in NC. He married and came south some of the group went west. He and Leatha Beall married in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC in 1796. My sister married into the Carter, Bland families of VA and traced her husbands line to the Carter who settled in VA. She had a book that I read this summer that mentioned a Pennington woman . I can get her to look it up if you like. I am a member of the Pennington Reasearch Assn. are you and have they located your ancestor? A William signed as surety for Thomas at that place. As you probably the Carters are big in the state of VA. 2. I'm not familiar with Paul Morris, but see some similar names, thought we might be in the same line. My mother was a Pennington and related to Morris line as well. I "think" I'm part of Group 26 on this list, not sure. I'm fairly new at this. Most of my Pennington's (just traced up to my great grandfather so far) are from Missouri area. Possible connection? 3. Thanks for the information. This is Group 19--the descendants of Richard and Eleanor Pennington of Pendleton County, (W) Va. According to Marriages of Pendleton County, Virginia 1788-1853, Revised by Jackie Puffenberger (1992), p. 13, Thomas Davis and Priscilla Pennington obtained their marriage bond on January 19, 1792 in Pendleton County, Va. Richard and Eleanor gave their consent and Richard Pennington Jr. is listed as a witness on the bond. I haven't seen the bond myself though. 2. I am looking for information on Charles William Pennington born June 01, 1865 in Lebanon, Missouri. Parents unknown. This is the Charles who married Emma Stewart in Lee Co., VA. There has been some confusion with the Charles who married Arminta Clarkson....these are not the same person. A man was kind enough to send me the marriage license information on both Charles. My Charles (born 1865) was adopted by the family with the ELY from Jonesville, VA. Mr. ELY did not want to change Charle's name so he would remember where he came from. Charles had two brothers--Doc & Ollie. Both of them were also adopted out but families are unknown also. He was a deputy sheriff of Harlan Co., KY for nearly 22 years before his death in 1947. I have the information from him down to me. I am asking for anyone with information on my Charles born in Missouri to please email me at Red12767@aol.com. Tammy
