    1. Fran Laaker
    2. Wilfred Pennington
    3. I saw Bob Pennington's recent post concerning the Joshua Pennington line. I am a descendent of that line and have been doing research. Does anyone know if Fran Laaker is still active in genealogy. I would like to ask her about some of her sources. She has, for instance, Uriah listed as the youngest son of Joshua. However a history of the Plumlee family (Uriah's wife), lists Uriah as the son of Anthony, and therefore a grandson of Joshua. Some of the other children, such as Judah, are incorrect, I believe. Also, the half-brother situation with Anthony and Timothy. Were the first children by a first wife and later children by a second wife? I have many questions and would love to hear from her or anyone else who is researching this line. Wilfred Pennington unclwil@midwest.net

    1. David Pennington
    2. I have discovered yet another David Pennington, b. 1846 (just a year or so off from David, son of Charles in Micajah's line!). This David is the son of Nelson Pennington b. abt. 1798 in Montgomery County, NC and Rebecca Carter b. 1810 in same county. Nelson was the son of Kirchin Pennington. So again, here is a David who could be the father of my great-grandfather. I suspect this is a different line altogether. Would anyone know which of the 27 PRA family groups has research on Nelson and Kirchin? Appreciatively, Linda Koenig

    3. Am looking for the bpt. of Hannah Pennington who married Charles Wear Poppleton in 1786 at Staveley, nr. Knaresborough, Yks. From the marriage entry it would appear that Hannah had two brothers, William and Thomas. Would be glad to hear from anyone who has Pennington ancestors in the Knaresborough area of Yorkshire. 3. This list is for the discussion of Pennington Genealogy and the activities of the Pennington Research Association. Any commercial postings or commercial solicitations sent to members of the Pennington list will not be tolerated. If anyone receives unsolicited commercial e-mail that somehow is the result of you being a member of this list, please forward the mail to me and efforts will be made to remove the person who sent the mail and block their efforts to subscribe to this and all other rootsweb lists. If someone has subscribed to lists and set their autoresponder to send a commercial solicitation to all people who post to this list, they will be removed. There was a serious spam attack on the rootsweb lists in the last few days, but I'm under the impression that this list was spared by the efforts of Karen and Brian. So if you receive something you think was inappropriate, and it has any connection to this list, please forward it to me. -- Steve Privett mailto:eqretrodr@earthlink.net mailto:SPrivett@aol.com http://users.aol.com/SPRIVETT/prahome.htm

    3. Linda, I found the David Pennington you were asking about, but I am sorry there was no more information about him. I wish I could give you the whole story but I know no way to find anything about him. Maybe someone else will let you know. Good luck and thanks for your reply, Maxine

    1. David Pennington
    2. My great-grandfather was David Pennington, probably b. abt. 1870, whose family originally came from Lee Co. Va./W.Va. He settled at some point in LaRue Co., Ky. We suspect he descended from Micajah Pennington's line. In two GEDCOM files I located a David Pennington born of that line in 1845 or 1847, son of Charles Pennington b. 1804. Neither of these files followed David's line any further, but he'd be just the right age to be my David's father. Does anyone have a record of such a link? If so, I'd be very grateful to hear from you. Linda Koenig

    2. Please list responses to the list so all can see. I sent out a request when PRA was still on the Indiana host, but got no responses. Maybe if the list went out to the entire membership, someone may respond who would not otherwise. Thanks for all your good work. Sallie Pennington-Owenby

    3. Hello, Laura! I don't think there can be any connection. I have Nancy Pennington (b. 25 Mar 1844 in Illinois) married George Cridlebaugh and their g-grandaughter married a Turner in Nebraska. Also, my Turners (husband's line) went from NY to Nebraska and were never in Kentucky. In Kentucky, I am researching my lines: Ball and Dyer. Sorry. 3. I am a descendent of Micajah Pennington through his daughter Mary Pennington 1765NC-1843 who married Rev. Jesse Bolling 1758NC-1841 Breathitt Co., KY. Jesse was the son of Benjamin Bolling of Wise Co., VA. There has been much controversy over whether or not Benjamin was the son of Major John Bolling born c1699 in "Cobbs", Henrico Co., VA. I have been in touch with Mr. Bud Bolling of the Bolling Family Association and he assures me that the committee working on this line can find nothing to substantiate Benjamin's being the son of Major John. He said the committee has stacks of information sent in to them from many sources and none of it is proof. They have worked diligently for a long time on this. As you probably know, Major John Bolling was a descendant of Pocahontas which can be proved. I do not care one way or another. All I would like to know is the truth. Please let me know how you are connected to the above families and I will be glad to exchange information. Maxine Bowling Friedly
