    1. [PENNINGTON-L] Timothy, b.Nov. 1759 - No Group at all
    2. How nice it would be to have a group number! How nice it would be to have identified cousins to fill a group! Actually, my daughter and I were "discovered" by a descendant of the above Timothy PENNINGTON who married Mary Trousdale FULLEN in Rockbridge Co., VA February 1785. Our newly-found cousin, Charles Bourne Pennington III ( Chuck), contacted us around Thanksgiving 1999, after seeing a posting of Dec. 1998 on Gen Forum. We are thrilled to find a living descendant of Timothy and Mary FULLEN. These folks had a big family. Are there any lurkers out there who claim descent from this couple? They moved to the area of Crab Orchard, Lincoln Co., KY from VA in 1786/87 and had seven children. After Timothy died in 1801, Mary FULLEN married George HEDRICK and moved on to MO. We are in contact with some HEDRICK cousins. Where are our Penningtons? Susie B in MI

    3. Ah, what a great idea - if only I knew what Group I was in!!. Edward b about 1797 married Lucinda. Had a son under 10 by 1820 census in Ashe Cty, NC. Found him again in 1850 Watauga Cty (same place, different name). He was 54 and wife, Lucinda, 48. They Isaac and Irina still at home. In two years, I have not been able to determine his parentage but believe he may have been from VA. Any ideas? 3. Peggy; This is a much better query than the first one you posted--more information. These names sound familiar to me, as my Group 28 line came through Lawrence County in eastern Kentucky. I suspect yours did too. I do not, however, show any Penningtons named Joshua or George Washington in my data. The surname Sparks does appear, but not Nancy. I have a book which shows the surname Lester associated with a Nancy Sparks. If you would post a snail-mail address I'll mail you a couple of pages. You might want to contact Pat (Lester) Starzer to see if she has more information: [email protected] I think you can provisionally rule out Group 28 for your line, but perhaps someone in another group that came through eastern Kentucky will chime in. Good luck in your research, Paul Pennington Augusta, Georgia Group 28 Leader

    3. Cousin; I would gladly put my group number anywhere you would like it, providing that I had a group number, I would even consider emblazoning it in the middle of my forehead. If you can find my great grandfather's parents, then, that would possibly tell who he was descended from, then I would have a chance of joining a group. In case you are interested , his name was;Wilson Pennington, born Ky. 1809. He lived and died in the area of Jackson co., Tn and Monroe county, Ky. dying in the 1870 -75 period as far as can be determined. He married Elizabeth Denham and had four children, I can supply you their names and birth dates and also their dates of deaths in case you are interested. There are those who firmly believe that he may have been an unnamed son of Simeon Pennington, but there is not that first shred of proof, as yet found. Just wanted to point out to you that it is not always possible do do something, not because we are stubborn, obstinate, dumb or forgetful, but for the simple reason that we do not have the information to do it. Thanks for your attention, Tom Pennington [email protected] wrote: > > The only thing I would wish for is for every one to put their group number > in the subject line so I would know if we are Kin. > > [email protected] > > ==== PENNINGTON Mailing List ==== > Do not post virus warnings on this list. > Practice safe e-mail habits and only open attachments you are expecting > For addition virus info see http://www.symantec.com/us.index.html or > http://www.mcafee.com/

    2. Here is what I have for John Pennington and Nancy Harris: John Pennington born 9/6/1782, VA, died 8/10/1863, White Co., TN married Nancy Harris about 1800. She was born about 1783 in VA and died 5/9/1847 in White Co., TN. They had eight children. One of which was Edmond D. Pennington. Edmond Pennington's is in group 5. I'm sure people will respond and let you know more about this. It's a great list to get information. The leader of Group 5 is Jeanne Thomas at [email protected] If you go to John Massa's Website, it will give you Edmond's parents and brothers and sisters. It is http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-genforum/pageload.cgi?Jasper::pennington::50 3.html According to Jeanne, as far as Group 5 goes back is Rev Charles Pennington. John Massa has other generation but they are not verified. The reason I got interested in Edmond Pennington is that his son Tullis Jasper Pennington married my great grandaunt Mary A. Hugo. I sent the information I was able to find to Jeanne. Let me know how things work out. Michele Hugo Mt. 3. First, I would just like to say thank-you for being so generous! And I agree wholeheartedly with you! However I know that the PRA does not allow everyone access to all their information. (I don't know if your information is available Free to everyone or if PRA requires membership to access your information.) Some of the information they have requires $ membership. I'm not against memberships (and I understand they have expenses, etc.) but I have 68 direct line surnames I am researching and you can well imagine the expense of joining a membership for each, when the usual cost is abt. $20. each. I just can not afford that, as I'm sure many can't! If you are sincerely interested in sharing your information with other interested Pennington researchers I highly recommend you send your information to Rootsweb where they allow free access to everyone all the time! Thank-you so much for your efforts to share the information you have learned! :-) Peggy ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, December 27, 1999 1:05 PM Subject: [PENNINGTON-L] C opyright Question > I have given the PRA permission to make all information in my past articles > for the Pennington Pedigrees and the books I've written available to anyone > at any time for any reason at NO cost other than what it costs the PRA to > copy and mail. I have yet to even find an American connection as all my Penningtons appear to have gone from England to New Zealand. I had been hoping that I might connect with a branch that went to America but have been unsuccessful so far. Having a ggg-grandfather with the name Heneage Ogilvie Pennington (born 1769) in Lambeth - I am sure if anyone had an ancestor with that name they would certainly know it. BTW, does anyone have a William Henry Pennington born in Greenwich in 1833 as a relative? William was an 11th Hussar in the Charge of the Light Brigade. Wounded in the leg in on October 25 1854 during the charge. He purchased his discharge in 1856 and went on to become a shakesparean actor and a favourite of Gladstone (who commented that William's Hamlet was the most original he had ever seen). William lived to a ripe old age and died in 1923 at Stoke Newington, London. Just thought this might be fascinating to anyone who wasn't aware of it. Happy festive season to all, Lana Pennington

    3. Merry Christmas all!! I am looking for information on the ancestors of Oliver Pennington, b. August 05, 1826, Shebbear, Devon, England, d. August 03, 1890, Lakota, North Dakota. He mariied Ann Walter(b. December 28, 1825, Bideford, Devon, England, d. April 15, 1916, Devils Lake, North Dakota) on June 15, 1850 in West Putford, Devon, England, and emigrated to Ontario in 1851. I have a copy of their marriage license and it lists his parents as William Pennington and Jane Ebsworthy. Oliver lived in Clovelly, Devon, England prior to emigrating. If anyone has any leads for me or can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. I have looked through the PRA groups and am unable to place our line. It seems that most of the "groups" have founders that came to America much earlier than 1851. Is there a better place to look for Pennington families that were still in England? Jeff Humphreys
