Well, that lady was one RICH lady. I don't even carry clothes worth that much when I travel. Many women in those days had only one good dress, usually their Sunday best. And two MAYBE 3 dresses for the rest of the week. (Usually only 2, one to wear all week, then one to wear while the first dress was washed).
