Do the PaDutch do anything with persimmons? They are ripe here in the South and splattering all over our office parking lot. I have Ewell Gibbons' recipe for persimmon bread, which I like but my husband thinks is blah, perhaps because I put store-boughten pecans in it rather than the specified hickory nuts. (There are no hickory nuts in the lowland South, not that I would shell them if there were; the pecan is a close relative). I also have his Indiana grandmother's recipe for persimmon pudding, which he likes (nostalgic for him) but I don't - something about the texture I think. If anyone knows anything to do with them that is easy I would like to know it. I am pretty sure they grow in PA. -- jan <janiceaf@ix.netcom.com> Interested in names: FRANK, KELLER, PENROSE, SCHULTZ ==== PENNA-DUTCH Mailing List ==== New? Looking for a quick connection?
