Vicki, The ancestor of the surname HOWERTER of Northumberland Co., PA was Adam HOWERTER of Montgomery Co., PA. His early church records are in Trappe in the "Swamp" Church. Three of his daughters married brothers named WEARY. They all lived in Northumberland (and maybe Schuylkill) county. Records for these families can be found on-line under "Howerter Church" of Northumberland Co. Think the official church name was St. Jacob's. My GG-grandfather John WEARY married Susanna HOWERTER, dau. of Adam. These people were Evangelical Lutheran. There was a Michael BAUGHMAN, lived in Manheim Twp. Lancaster Co., PA whose wife was Catherine. His will, written 1755 named their children as Anna, Michael, Jr., Christian, John, Elizabeth, Barbara, Lissey, Veronica, Magdelena, and Peter. These kids intermarried with the surnames of WHITMORE or WITMER, STEINER, HERR, HERSHEY, STONER, SEGRIST, LESHER, and GILBERT. Other surnames from Veronica include HIESTAND, NESBITT, SNIVELY, BRIDENBAUGH, HORST and SMITH. This branch left Lancaster Co., PA and went south to Washington Co., MD and to Ohio and Indiana. Some descendants ended up in North Carolina and VA. Many of these people were Dunkers. Turned out not related to me. Hope this helps.
