Well, Sharon Thank you for the interesting info about the name HUFF! And your offer to look for any connection. I have a Mary KERST(GERST/KARST) variably spelled, that married a HUFF and, in her brother Franz KERST's will of 1/1765; proved 10/1765, he bequeaths her an equal share of his properties in Exeter and Alsace and refers to her as my sister 'Mary HUFF of Maidencreek'. There is no first name for her husband. I have scouted around in that area of Berks Co and have not found much on HUFFs. Maybe you have something in your book?!! The KERSTs were German, so I just assumed that HUFF was German too! As far as DUGAN and JONES, I have a little more information: From Philadelphia I have a James DUGAN, son of John and Mary DUGAN. The father, John, died in 1787 and he and most of the family are buried in Old St Mary's, Sec J Vault 5 in Philadelphia. Children were Daniel, Mary, James, Margaret, WIlliam and Clementine Bridget. I believe they were Irish. Son James DUGAN was married to a Sarah ?. He was shown in Nantmeal on the 1790 census with 2-3-6. He died sometime between 1810 and 1824 in E Nantmeal (will of 10/3/1810 proved 1/4/1825). Children: John, George, Mary, James, Thomas, Sarah, Ferdinand, Anna and Joseph DUGAN. In his will he mentions his daughter Mary (Dugan) JONES (born 4/5/1766) and her dau Elizabeth JONES and bequeaths them both 5 pounds but ELizabeth could not collect until she was age 21. Executors of his will were son Joseph and an Isiah KIRK. I found a baptismal record for Mary DUGAN, dau of James and Sarah baptized 11/24/1776 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Phila. Now her daughter Elisabeth JONES, born 8/29/1810 married my gr3grandfather, Daniel LANDIS. They lived in Warwick Twp., Chester Co and her mother, Mary JONES, lived with them in Warwick and NCoventry until she died in 3/1866 at age 99y11m. She was a widow, but I have no idea who her husband was or when he died. Mary JONES is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, near ParkerFord. Daniel and ELizabeth are buried in St Peter's Reformed (now UCC) in Knauertown. Mary Jones was shown on the 1850 and 1860 Census as a widow in the LANDIS household. Hope this will help and maybe find an early DUGAN connection with your HUFFs. Thank you for your information. Diana at audiana@webtv.net
