    3. Diana, I believe I found Paulus, and how his descendants came to Maidenhead. If this is the right emigrant ancestor you should be able to make the connection: "Paulus Dirckse migrated on the New Netherlands "Fortune", embarking from Amsterdam June 30, 1650 and reaching New Amsterdam (New York) Dec. 19, 1650. He settled under aegis of Baron van der Capelle, who owned Staten Island. After Indian Massacre, he fled to Fort Orange (Albany) where he must have lived some time because a 1657/58 deposition following the massacre showed he then lived at Fort Orange with wife, child, and servant. Wife was Gertie Willemse. By Christmas, 1662, he joined the Dutch Church in Brooklyn as being from Fort Orange. The child was possibly Derrick Pauluszen, who took the name Derrick Hoff when he removed to Maidenhead (Lawrenceville) NJ from Flushing about 1700. Other children of Paulus Dirckse are not known to have changed their names to Hoff." >Sharon, In a Reading Adler OBIT I found Frederick HUFF of Hereford, >Berks Co died at age 82 in 4/26/1816 making him born about 1734 and >agreeing with your dates.
