In my research on the Lesher family, I have come across some Hoff information: Aaron Hoff is listed in the 1850 PA census living in Limerick, Montgomery County. He's a farmer with real estate worth $950. Listed in his household are: Elizabeth, 29; Catherine, 3; Daniel, 1; Elizabeth Smith, 55; and Susan Smith, 9. Lewis Hoff and his household are living in Norristown in Montgomery County. As for Daniel Hoff: In the 1820 PA census, there are 2 Daniels, one living in Dauphin County and one in Berks County in Maidencreek. In the 1810 PA census, there are 2 Daniels (Jr. and Senior) living in York County and one Daniel living in Philadelphia County in Germantown. I'm trying to figure out where one of my ancestors, William Lesher (b. 1737), came from. He lived in Germantown and ran Lesher's tavern until his death in 1787. The earliest record I have of him is a marriage ceremony that he witnessed in 1758 where Reinhardt Hoff married Margaretha Lescherin on June 19, 1758 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phila. Witnesses to this marriage were: William Leschere, Cathrina Lescherin, Michael Schmaltz, and Heinrich Gottfried. I believe Margaretha is William Lesher's sister.
