I do think Jan hit on one thing...the evolutionary aspects of any dialect. Dialects are more often spoken than written and they do evolve. I am no expert but I don't think it would be much of a stretch for Wos Wit to have evolved from Wos Mit--as the phrase gradually takes on a more English sound. Joan
