In response to a question as to whether Adam Staub was a Hessian soldier: My reference to his marriage in Dr. Fisher's book was found in Part VII, titled "MARRIAGES OF SOME PENNSYLVANIA SOLDIERS AND PATRIOTS OF THE REVOLUTIONARY PERIOD". Further, in Dr. Fisher's book of "THE SNYDER COUNTY PIONEERS" he says: "ADAM STAUB was assessed with 20 acres and personal property in Heidelberg Township, York County in 1779. Soon thereafter he came to what is now Snyder County. In 1774, he and his wife, Eva, had their son, John George, baptized at the old Zion Lutheran Church, north of Freeburg. Adam served as a private in Captain Charles Meyer's (Moyer's) Company of the Northumberland County Militia." ARickard@compuserve.com ==== PENNA-DUTCH Mailing List ==== Post your PD Holiday recipes!
