"The Snyder County Pioneers" by Dr. Charles Fisher mentions Matthias Houser, who arrived from Germany aboard the "Phoenix" and took his oath of allegiance Sept. 25, 1751 at Phila. He lived in Elizabeth Twp., Lancaster Co., PA in 1773, and was first taxed in Penn Twp. 1778. He had at least 2 sons, Jacob and John. Jacob, the son, was first assessed in Penn Twp. in 1786, then was changed to Beaver Twp after its formation. By 1790 Jacob, Jr. had 4 boys and 3 girls. He died in Beaver Twp. and his will was recorded at Lewisburg, PA on March 21, 1822. The will showed he had children: John, Jacob, others--no names. (Book on Snyder Co. wills by Dr. Fisher.) Also, Dr. Fisher"s book, "Central Pennsylvania Marriages 1700-1896 lists a marriage of Jacob Houser and Susanna_______ on 1/6/1803.
