    1. German translation program
    2. I downloaded that shareware language translation program that someone posted a message about the other day. You know, for someone who didn't know a language it might be helpful. It's only $15 and translates German, French, Swedish and two other languages back and forth to English. The translations are crude; you really wouldn't want to write a letter to someone with it and expect them to understand what you were writing about, but if you had an old document in a foreign language and ran it through the translator, you'd get a rough idea about what it was about. I did this with a letter that I had written in German, and translated it back into English. There were quite a few words it couldn't translate (could this be my choice of archiaic words from my 30 year old German dictionary ;-) ) and for some words it used different meanings than what I had intended, but you could get the general sense of what I had written to my cousin. For $15 it wasn't bad for what you got and could be a real help for those with no high school language education, particularly if you had to translate words from one of the less common languages like Swedish or Danish. And as I write this, I'm at a computer at work on a break and the program is at home, so I'm blanking on the name and URL. If anybody was interested, let me know and I'll post the URL to the group. Hope this is close enough to be on topic Rod - I think it will be a help for some readers. Bob Lamparter Selinsgrove, PA Interested in the surname LAMPARTER anywhere.
