    1. What a Find!
    2. Oct. 7th(Tuesday) the Archives in Prothonatary opened in the Berks County Courthouse, Reading, Pennsylvania. Every Tuesday I volunteer, this was the 3rd. Tuesday. I help the Patrons, but at the same time I aquainting myself w/ the records. Each Tuesday I have found something of value, since all my direct lines & my husband's mothers direct line stayed in Berks County, I can find quite a few things. Last week I found Douglas (My husband) GGrandfather & GGGRanfather(father & son) were in a baroom brawl in a bar on Penn St., Reading. This week I found my 3rd Great Granparents were divorced in 1881. The 1880 census he was living w/ a son & she was living alone, I thought they just lived apart. They were about 56 years old when divorced. She died around 1885, he remarried and had a son in 1896, he was 70 years old. There is an interesting index to Appearances, it is called: Divorces, Restraints, Lunatics, Drunkards. These start 1884 to I know we have in Archives to 1950's. We have records starting 1766. I am just learning myself, but if you had people in Berks Co. come to visit us, it is fun going through these old Books. Do not ask me to lookup anything, I just don't have time.
