    2. In a message dated 99-03-19 14:51:55 EST, you write: > Could anyone tell me whether these names are PA Dutch and what they mean. > They are names I am researching and so far I haven't been able to come up > with > the meaning of the surname. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. I > have been told by family that we are PA Dutch. Kathy, I would say they CAN be--not necessarily that they ARE. Redman can be English Quaker--we had a large family in early West Jersey Quaker records named Redman. However, there is also a Hans Redman listed in Strassburger and Hinke ship lists, Pa. German Pioneers, vol. 1, page 395-arrived in Phila. 2 Sept. 1749 on the Ship Albany. I find no Mounts/z but there could be other alternate spellings. I find a Gottfried Zepernick in vol. 1, page 740-arrived 29 Dec. 1772 in Phila. on the Ship Minerva. Joan
