I am trying to find information on John Heinrich Miess, who lived in Lebanon or Berks County in the mid-1700's. His farm was across the Swatara Creek from Bethel Moravian Church, where the Swatara came through the Blue Mountains. He was probably Lutheran or Reformed. I found his son Thomas mentioned in a Lutheran Church record in Virginia. John Heinrich's wife's name was Anna Margaret, and they had 9 children. His daughter Elizabeth may have been the Elizabetha Miess married by Rev. Stoever to Captain Thomas Coppenhaver in 1778. That Elizabeth was of Bethel Township; Thomas Coppenhaver was of East Hanover Township. In 1761, he and his brother Christopher were massacred by Indians while plowing. His brother George lived where the Monroe Valley Country Club is now. George (actually his name was John George) was a member of Bethel Moravian. His son John George was also killed by Indians in 1756. I can find information on George in Bethel Township documents, but nothing on John Heinrich or his sons. Then Miess family immigrated from Prussia. There was also a Phillip Miess, who I'm told wasn't a brother of the other 3. Can anyone help me? Judy
