Seeking info on Henry Yorty, born ca.1742, Lancaster Co. PA. and/or his father Peter Yorty (Yordea) who came to Lancaster Co. abt. 1717 and died there b-4 1765. I can be contacted at < mapapool@aol.com > Jack Coley
Jack, So far I have not run across the name Yorty/Yordea in my research. The surnames I have thant resided in Lancaster, Luzerne and Bucks-now Lehigh Counties include: Emerick/Emerich/Emrick, Hess, Troxell/Trachsel, Saeger, Schott, Sessler DJ Miles in Yacolt, Washington
Jack- "Emigrants, Refugees, and Prisoners, Volume III," by Richard Warren Davis, page 92, identifies a Peter YORDY as the father of Jacob YORDY. Davis also indicates: - Peter's wife was Magdalena Stauffer. - Jacob married Anna (Annali) Gingrich on April 16, 1768 Davis also indicates a Christian YORDY married Anna's sister Barbara (no date given), and that Christian was born about 1740. Although Davis doesn't indicate Christian is the brother of Jacob, I think it is probable that he is. I have seen Jacob and Christian's last name also spelled JORDE and/or JORDY. Davis doesn't refer to a Henry; however, the portion of the book that I referenced focused on the GINGRICH family. Other portions of the book may have addressed the YORTE/YORDY line. The time frame looks good and the location was definitely Lancaster County. Please let me know if you think this is a match so that I can update my records. thanks...Don ----- Original Message ----- From: <Mapapool@aol.com> To: <PENNA-DUTCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2001 12:27 PM Subject: [PADutch] Yorty Family of Lancaster County, PA > Seeking info on Henry Yorty, born ca.1742, Lancaster Co.
