    3. Germans quite often named their children with a baptismal first name and a second name which was used by the family. My Johan Christian Berger (d 1774) had sons all named with Johan except one who was Johannes. Johannes had no second name. the others were Johan Philip, Johan Christian, Johan Henry, etc. Cathy ----- Original Message ----- From: Ronald K Wiandt,Jr <ronwiandtjr@juno.com> To: <PENNA-DUTCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2001 2:17 AM Subject: [PADutch] German children having the same first name. > Would anyone know why German families name their sons with the same > first name?
